Our Reflection for 2015
Communities are messy. They have to be otherwise they would be organisations. An organisation is a member of a community; either defined by place, association or other kinds of identity. Yet many organisations are established to organise a community; to serve it or to change it in some way. Hence, a part sets the agenda for the larger whole. In a community there are usually several such…

As facilitators, we often talk about the consequences of applying SALT with a group. But what happens when SALT is the way of working within a group and you are part of that group? How does it feel to be part of such a group? I would like to give some personal reflections on this experience.
What happens when you deliberately support, appreciate, learn and transfer AND when you feel supported, you feel appreciated, you feel that others recognise that you have something that they can…

When creating the space for communities to come up with their own strengths-based responses to local issues, a big question has to do with telling the story of what's unfolding as the communities move forward. What's the best way to do this storytelling?…

ContinueWe (Eden, Vittoria & Loïs) are three friends that met through our studies at Amsterdam University College. To complete our bachelor, we are required to do a Community Project. This project does not per se have to be linked to our respective majors, but should enable us to engage at local and global levels and to demonstrate personal and social responsibility. As we were already familiar with the Constellation’s approach and some of us already applied it to a certain extent both locally…

In the Constellation, we make a distinction between the expert and the facilitator. When we are an expert, we recognise our own authority to diagnose the problem and to give a solution. When we listen and reflect, we become part of a conversation where we can support and appreciate without judgement.
In the Constellation, we do not diagnose and we do not provide a solution. We believe in the capacity of others to find their own solution to their own problem. (And therefore we must…

I have had recently the chance to watch an interesting movie showing how some people and some communities are responding positively to the current global challenges. It shows how people together can face issues related agriculture, education, energy, waste management, finance and democracy, through local community responses. This a refreshing and positive perspective on the global challenges. And definitively, our SALTy way of working is greatly in line with all what is said in that movie.…

A deeper level of humanity - getting to know SALT and CLCP
