বেসলাইন সার্ভে করার সময়ে ইন্টারভিউ করার জন্য জয়নগর মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় থেকে ড্রপ আউট একজন শিক্ষার্থীকে খুঁজে নেই। বিদ্যালয় থেকে তার তথ্য নিয়ে তার বাড়িতে আমরা যাই। এবং তার সাথে ইন্টারভিউ বা সাক্ষাৎ করি।
পরে ইন্ডিভিজুয়াল (একক) সল্ট করার পর হঠাৎ মধ্যপাড়া তে যখন গ্রুপ সল্টে যাই তখন সেই ছেলেটির সাথে আমাদের দেখা হয়। তখন ফাহিম খুব আগ্রহের সাথে জানায় আপু আপনাদের সাথে কথা বলে আমি অনুপ্রাণিত হয়েছি এবং বুঝতে শিখেছি পড়ালেখার গুরুত্ব অনেক বেশি। আর যেহেতু আপনার আমার মায়ের সামনে আমার সাথে কথা বলেছিলেন তাই পরবর্তীতে মা আমাকে সুন্দরভাবে বুঝিয়ে দেয়। মা বলেছিলো, “হয় লেখাপড়ার পথ বেছে নাও না হলে কাচি কোদাল ধরে মাঠের কাজে নেমে যাও”। তখন আমি দেখলাম ওই কাজের চাইতে পড়ালেখা করাটাই আমার জন্য খুব সহজ। তাই তখন থেকে আমি আবার পুনরায় স্কুলে ফিরে যাই এবং এখন আমি নিয়মিত বিদ্যালয় যাই এবং শিক্ষকদের পড়া বোঝার চেষ্টা করি যদিও আমি একটু দুর্বল প্রকৃতির শিক্ষার্থী। ফাহিমের মুখে এ ধরনের কথা শুনে আমাদের খুবই ভালো লাগে। গ্রুপ সল্টে ফাহিম সুন্দরভাবে পার্টিসিপেট করে এবং সকলে মিলে তাদের দল এক্টিভিটি করতে শুরু করে। যেহেতু বেশিরভাগ ছেলেরা মাদকে এবং মোবাইলে আসক্ত। তাই মেহেদির বয়সী ছেলেরা মিলে মাঠে প্রতিদিন খেলাধুলা করে। এবং তারা নিজেরা ছেলেদের বাড়ি বাড়ি গিয়ে ডেকে আনে আবার কখনো ফোন করে ডেকে আনে। তারা মনে করে বিকেলবেলা খেলাধুলা করলেও এই নেশাগুলোর সাথে জড়িয়ে পড়ার সম্ভাবনা কমবে।
মাঝে মাঝে তাদের দলের সাথে দেখা করতে গেলে নিজে থেকে এসে কুশলাদি বিনিময় করে এবং সে সাহসী হয়ে উঠেছে বলে আমার মনে হয়। মোবাইল ফোনের আসক্তি থেকে অনেকটাই বেরিয়ে এসেছে এবং নিয়মিতভাবে প্রতিদিন মাঠে খেলাধুলা করছে। ফাহিমের মধ্যে এমন পরিবর্তন দেখে সত্যিই আমি অনুধাবন করতে পেরেছি সল্ট এর গুরুত্ব কতটা। সল্ট মূলত এমন একটি হাতিয়ার যার দ্বারা যে কোন মানুষের মধ্যাকার গুণ বা শক্তিকে জাগ্রত করে তোলা সম্ভব। শাসন বা শক্তি দ্বারা যেটি করা সম্ভব নয়। সল্টের দ্বারা সেটি খুব সহজেই করা যেতে পারে যার বাস্তব উদাহরণ হল ফাহিম নিজেই।

During conducting the baseline survey, we identified a student who had dropped out of Joynagar Secondary School to do an in-depth interview. We gathered information from the school and visited the student's home to conduct the interview.
Later, after an individual SALT conversation, we unexpectedly met the same boy again during a group SALT session in Madhyapara, Byaspur. At that moment, Fahim, full of enthusiasm, shared, "Sister, after speaking with you, I was inspired and realized the immense importance of education. Since you had spoken to me in front of my mother, she later explained things to me kindly. My mother said, ‘Either choose the path of education, or pick up the sickle and spade and work in the fields’. At that point, I realized that studying was much easier for me than doing fieldwork. From then on, I returned to school and have been attending regularly, trying to understand the lessons from my teachers, even though I consider myself a somewhat weak student." Hearing these words from Fahim made us feel incredibly happy.
During the group SALT session, Fahim participated actively and joined his peers in team activities. Since many boys in the area are addicted to drugs and mobile phones, boys around Mehedi's age now gather every day to play sports. They even go house to house or make phone calls to invite others to join them. They believe that by engaging in evening sports, they can reduce the likelihood of falling into bad habits like drug addiction.
When I occasionally meet with their group, Fahim greets me eagerly and exchanges pleasantries. I feel he has become more confident. He has managed to largely overcome his mobile phone addiction and now plays sports regularly every day. Seeing such a transformation in Fahim, I have truly realized the power of SALT. SALT is a tool that can awaken the inner strengths and qualities in any person, something that cannot be achieved through strict discipline or force. SALT achieves this effortlessly, and Fahim is a living example of its effectiveness.
