Subject: Opportunities to share your SALT/CLCP experiences in AIDS 2020 and HIV2020 - ACT NOW!

Belated Happy New Year to you!

We hope that you have all been well and enjoyed practising SALT/CLCP in your HIV/AIDS- related work in the past year(s).  We suppose that you have accumulated experiences and lessons learned that you would like to share with others who work on HIV/AIDS issues around the world.  It’s great that in 2020 there will be 2 big opportunities for you to do just that!   

1. The 23rd International Conference on HIV/AIDS or AIDS2020 (which we sometimes refer to as the World AIDS Conference).  It’s taking place during 6-10 July 2020, in San Francisco and Oakland, U.S.A. The theme of the conference is Resilience. For details, see https://www.aids2020.org/
2. HIV2020.  This is a new international conference which describes itself as a “community-led event to provide a safe alternative for individuals who cannot or will not enter the U.S. in 2020 or who cannot afford to attend AIDS2020. It will also offer new opportunities to reaffirm the leading role communities play in the global HIV response”.  It is scheduled for  5-7 July 2020 in Mexico City, Mexico.  The theme of the conference is Community Reclaiming the Global Response.  For details, see https://www.hiv2020.org/   

It will be wonderful if you can present your experiences and lessons learned in either or both of these conferences, so please make efforts to register, submit abstracts, and apply for scholarship!  We provide important links and dates here-below for your quick references. 

If you already have plans to attend and present an abstract or facilitate an event at either or both of these conferences, would you like to connect with The Constellation and others in the network to see whether there is something we can do together to promote understanding of SALT/CLCP and how the approach can be used to promote community ownership of solutions to HIV/AIDS? This also is an opportunity to increase the visibility of The Constellation, and we would very much appreciate to collaborate with you in that regard. The dissemination of our approach will be more effective if it is carried by a vehicle such as The Constellation network and organisation.  Kindly contact us so that we can connect and follow up!

Please note that, unfortunately, The Constellation does not have any funds to provide financial support for these conferences, but we are happy to provide technical and networking support as best we can!
