NGOs often undertake various community based awareness, peer education activities and home visits as part of ongoing care and support effort for people living with HIV.
I wondered if home visits worked. I had no experience of doing home visits for community…

Health Nest Uganda entered into partnership with The Constellation in December 2011 to introduce the Community Life Competence Process (CLCP) to Uganda. It was agreed that two workshops be held in January 2012 and April 2012 respectively. As part of the workshop in January, participants paid a SALT visit to the community of Katabi.
Arriving in the community, we parked our vehicle near the home of an older person whom we did not specifically plan to visit and moved out into…

[ I documented the AAR on five SALT visits done during National Knowledge Fair held from 1st to 3rd March 2012 in Chennai, India.
An interesting thing was that two of the AARs were done in presence of the community. The community found AAR useful and helped them understand what SALT is. The SALT…

Posting below on behalf of Ian Campbell and his facilitation team members in Odessa - Ukraine. After a SALT visit, the team followed up on an invitation to bring a visit at the house of the people they met. They left enriched. Enjoy the reading!
During the SALT visit to the refugee group, Mohammed from Guinea said ‘I am a man-I can succeed and I will.’…
ContinueWe did our first SALT visit as a team on Friday, Nov 3rd 2011 at the SALVATION ARMY, Georgetown Guyana.
Before the meeting Steve, Nadia and I kept in contact, constantly SHARING ideas, about the concepts we learnt in the CLC workshop. It was exciting to LISTEN to each other's views and share our thoughts.
On the day of the planning meeting, I had black out or no electrical power at home. Steve and Nadia and Myself kept in contact via phone. Later that day, creativity…

UNAIDS and Constellation organised a Knoweldge fair in Odessa in Oct 2011. Alla was one of the participants who went for her first SALT visit. She was very impressed by SALT. She gave a video recording of her experience in Russian which Rituu will upload. I saw the video and did the English translation. I live in Russia and did the English translation for Rituu when she was the facilitator in Kazan. I am very taken in with SALT and from a translator also became a SALT…

*Over the course of two years, The Constellation has partnered with the Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) in Ethiopia to integrate AIDS Competence (ACP) into their existing Community-Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR) programme. During a support visit in Borana, one Ethiopian participant - Hussein - experienced firsthand the power of SALT through a home visit.*

In February 2011, I visited a Sri Lankan Refugee camp located in Kadayanallur block in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu state along with a team of four Community Outreach counsellors. This camp was established nearly 20 years ago for the Tamil people who migrated from Sri Lanka due to civil war. As part of the Rural Youth Project being implemented by SIAAP, we organised a meeting with young men…

“Maybe it is best to have no expectations”, I was thinking by myself. My first SALT visit in a prison. And not just a prison. A prison in Georgetown, Guyana and on the agenda was facilitation of self-assessment on AIDS Competence. I have to admit that I was excited.…

This is another learning of being saltly person from SALT visit activity. It's little bit painfull actually, but I really want to share this.
To be honest with you all, I m trying to understanding and enjoying AAR activity. Up until last two facilitations I made I was still not understand what can I learn as a person and a facilitator from this AAR activity. This was then revealed at an accident. I heared from a participant of salt visit I facilitated that I did conduct…
