About Me:
I am working with communities in Singapore. I hope one day to return to my home country, Sarawak, East Malaysia, to work with the local indigenous groups.
My dream:
To be able to work with local indigenous communities in Sarawak.
To promote SALT among the different networks I have.
To be SALTY always!

Who says SALTY is bad!!! :))
I'm proud of:
My achievements - tho small - with the communities I am currently working with.
What do I want to do to spread Community Life Competence?
Facilitate Community Life Competence in my community, Launch a facilitation team, Join a facilitation team, Share about Community Life Competence with potential partners; friends; colleagues, I want to apply SALT in my own life (S: Stimulate; Support; A: Appreciate; L: Listen; Learn; Link; T: Transfer; Team), I want to share my experience on my blog in Ning
The small secretariat of the Constellation also needs help. Do you want to help? I want to:
Develop blended learning, Share Community Life Competence with potential partners, online facilitation

The group eventually went to discuss about gender inequality in their respective villagers where women and men are treated differently - men often given leadership roles and women as followers.

SALT visit to one low-income community in Singapore

Posted on December 3, 2011 at 7:15pm 3 Comments

A group of 15 adults and elderly living in one low-income community shared a commom concern i.e insufficient income and food for their families. We facilitated a gathering to discuss how we can address our concerns and how together we can offer support to one another.

I went with 2 other colleagues and Dr. Jean-Louis Lamboray, who was in Singapore for a visit.

I started the discussion by thanking everyone for making time to come for the discussion and I commented that despite our… Continue

When those in authority become too involved in the community's life, the community becomes dependent and see themselves as recipients of welfare and help. Working in a community with a good mix of low, middle and high income group, it is natural that that rich sees themselves as superior and powerful. They take charge of leadership positions and make decisions they deem to be helpful for the whole community.

I was invited by the Residents Commiittee (RC) to make a presentation to this…
