SALT visit in a Methodist clinic in Diéké, very well known for its services to surrounding communities and elsewhere.

First, with the local facilitators, during the preparatory exercise of the visit, we found it very difficult to approach the staff. "What are we going to say to the medical staff?" "They know what is right, but we are profane." Many local facilitators have little hope for the success of the visit and to speak frankly, on the way they say, "When doctors realize that our questions are for supervision, they will not listen at us."

It was in this spirit that the members of the team went…

Reinventing Vilvoorde--One Volunteer at a Time

Picture this:  14 citizens of all ages (well, not really.  Most were aged 50 and beyond) and different backgrounds and social levels in a large room of the town’s large cultural center.  14 people who committed themselves for two full days, plus one evening, of learning about Community Life Competence Practices (CLCP).  When asked what brought them there, one middle-aged lady said:  “My feet.”  Others provided more content:  Wanting to learn something new; wanting to become involved; wanting…

The path to dream building (Part 2)

“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”

Pope John XXIII

As i announced the ending of the card making session i observed the girls. They…
