Ms. Nazma (Sonia), one of the participants in a GFC-funded project, resides in Pechakola village of Bera, Pabna. She married Mr. Jasim Uddin at the age of 16 and is now 24, a mother of two children aged 5 and 7. Despite her husband's diligent work, their family faces financial struggles that escalate as the children grow. They find it challenging to meet expenses solely on her husband’s income. Ms. Nazma, recognizing the need to contribute, sought ways to support her family within the confines of their conservative society.
She reached out to her neighbors, expressing her interest in learning tailoring to assist with family finances. With her husband's approval, she apprenticed under a neighbor, eventually establishing herself as a commercial tailor, specializing in women's and adolescent clothing. Rapidly gaining clientele, she now earns up to BDT 5000 monthly, significantly aiding her family. Alongside managing household duties and childcare, she has earned respect within her family, with her husband seeking her advice on family matters.
Initially met with criticism from neighbors and relatives for engaging in non-traditional income-generating activities for women, Ms. Nazma remained undeterred, supported by her husband in overcoming societal barriers. They now lead a content life, financially secure with savings for emergencies and medical needs. Ms. Nazma has become a beacon of inspiration for women in her village, counseling them on pursuing similar endeavors to alleviate family burdens and foster happiness and stability.
Overall, Ms. Nazma's story teaches us the importance of resilience, initiative, community support, and gender equality in fostering individual and collective prosperity. The story of Ms. Nazma offers several valuable lessons:
◑ Despite facing financial struggles, Ms. Nazma displayed resilience and determination to improve her family's situation. She didn't succumb to criticism or societal norms but instead sought out opportunities to contribute positively.
◑ Ms. Nazma demonstrated adaptability by recognizing the need to generate additional income for her family. She took the initiative to learn a new skill and transform it into a viable source of revenue, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit.
◑ Ms. Nazma challenged traditional gender roles by actively participating in income-generating activities typically dominated by men. Her success serves as an example of how women can empower themselves economically and contribute meaningfully to their families' well-being.

She feelings in Salt Conversion were excellent informative. She said, who will think that my life story has not been shared by anyone before. But it's nice to be able to share it with you today. I never understood that I could be an enthusiast. I never thought that there was a lesson from my story. She learned many things through salt conversion and was instructive for him.
Thanks Bayazid! How did she feel after the SALT conversation?
