Applying CLCP in a new context! Communities dependent upon aquatic agriculture systems for their livelihoods

Millions of people around the world are dependent upon aquatic agricultural systems for their livelihoods. In fact, all of us are, in some way or another.

In Zambia, there are communities living within the Barotse Flood Plain who must deal with seasonal flooding patterns that saturate the surrounding fertile land. Each time the Zambezi river floods, these communities must pack up their belongings and move to higher ground. They have been doing this for centuries, but the…

We are equipped! We are empowered! We are inspired!

Transfer is the T in SALT. It is how we spread the Community Life Competence approach to new partners, new communities and new places.

It does not require an expert approach, nor complex "sales" or "communications" strategies. Transfer is simple. It starts with a simple conversation.

The Constellation’s ability to connect local responses requires that we learn from new communities and engage with new…

VALUE OF SALT

"Salt is an essential nutrient and is the world’s oldest food additive. Mankind has been using salt for many centuries, in the course of which we've amassed many uses (some speculate thousands) for this amazing substance—uses that go far beyond mere seasoning.

Commonly used as food flavouring and an additive to help preserve food, this common mineral is so valuable." taken from internet, Uses of SALT.

The SALT Process has indeed become valuable in our daily thinking and…

A new kind of aid donor: Four things they do differently

We all know there are aid donors and international funding partners out there that want to change “business as usual” in development (or at least people inside those institutions that do). We also all know that for various reasons, they’re not moving quick enough for those working on the ground.

New donors could come in and fill the gaps. But more importantly, we need a new kind of donor, whether they are recent to the scene or not.

The organizations that I see doing…
