Learning From Each Other :The Journey of Hijlipara Mothers Toward Nutrition and Self-Reliance.

One day, we had a group SALT discussion with the youth boys of the Santal community in Govindapala village. There were 23 people present in the discussion meeting. We asked everyone to share their life stories with each other. After the SALT discussion, we asked everyone present.

Kindness is something that can make any person think.

I had a conversation with Sumanta Soren, a Santal community member from Govindapala village, through Salt. He shared a beautiful story with me – one day he went to Burdwan for a special work. After finishing his work, when he was returning home by train, he saw a beggar asking for alms from everyone and no one was giving him anything, seeing him made him very sad. That day, he did not eat anything and kept some money for himself for food, but seeing the condition of a beggar, he felt very…

Child returned to mainstream through the SALT Approach

In Bautijal village, one student stopped going to school. When the Suchana staff came to know about it, one staff member visited the student’s house to find out the reason. She found that the parents used to quarrel a lot, and because of that, the child was affected. The mother had left home. For about six months, the father went to work in the market every day, and the child stayed alone at home and did not go to school.

Our team member spoke with the father and used the SALT method…

Realizing Dream: Community Tree Planting Initiatives

Healthy Masculinity, Harmonious Home: My Time Series Reflection

The first step in discussing masculinity at Kewdaha an adibasi village

In a village called Kewndaha, I had a conversation with an old man named Jagai Hansda about masculinity. I first asked him what a man is or what do you mean by a man? He replied that I would first say a man who respects women. If there were no women, no human being would be born, then there is a division according to gender. A man means performing the most difficult duties. Of course, some duties are divided between men and women. He said that our times were not very good. We had to work in…

Talking about nature and masculinity was a memorable experience

While walking around Nandwal village today, I saw a man cleaning his garden in front of his house, Rajaram Ulpe. The calm and contented expression on his face reflected how peacefully he spends his time in the company of nature. Upon greeting him, we sat under a chikoo tree and began our conversation.

His life story begins in the 1980s a time when…
