Our friend Gloria passed away peacefully on January 21. The letter below expresses our collective commitment to pursue her dreams. Gloria is truly with us in spirit.
Dear Gloria
Only five weeks ago, I handed over to you at the hospital in Kuching your certificate as Constellation coach and you thanked me. Then I gave you a little wooden box and asked you to open it. You did and brought the box to your lips to kiss its content. These were our Constellation coach…

The practice of SALT takes courage: this is probably what stuck most in our minds when Rebecca and Joel, Gaston and Laurence, Nathalie and her son Thibault, Rebecca’s friend Eerin and I were privileged to meet in Chiang Mai over the weekend of February 9 and 10.
It takes courage to start a formal meeting with introductions as humans
It takes courage to include a SALT visit in a workshop program, when everyone thinks they already know what communities need
It takes courage to…

This Sunday morning in Yogyakarta, the power of SALT is at work. For 45 minutes, participants stand in a circle to share their reflections from the visits we had made to three communities: Vesta, a community of men having sex with men, Kebaya a community of transgender persons who welcome their friends of all ages, many of them living with HIV and AIDS and Bunga Seroja, a community of sex workers. On surface, the day consisted in a perfectly organized ballet of visits. But after a few…

We haven't started yet, but that did not prevent me to start learning.
At breakfast yesterday with the Indocompetence team, we reconnect and chat about anything and everything.
Wiwin tells casually: "Do you know, kids are poking fun at my three and half year old son, because he tries to practice SALT and does not grab toys like his friends do?"…

«Sir, you have opened my eyes. For 25 years I have had what you might call a successful life. But today I can see beyond this apparent success».
This gentleman came to me after the presentation of Community Life competence in Singapore on November 24. Our proposition to people in businesses is met with enthusiasm! Let us hear a few more reactions:…

It is 07:00 PM on June 20. Rui is driving us back from Boene to Maputo, after the first day of the Mozambique knowledge fair. After a 30 km ride, we stop at a red traffic light at the top of a hill. Team members chat in the back of the car. Rui takes advantage of the stop to respond to few text messages. He and his team are organizing SALT visits for 100 participants for tomorrow, not a small endeavor!
As he is writing, we feel a shock at the rear of our vehicle. Rui stops writing,…

Notre…

It is winter in Mozambique. The sky is blue, with no clouds in sight; still the air is fresh and crisp. In this neighborhood of South Matola, 35km away from Maputo, we walk on the sandy track along the small houses bordered by euphorbia hedges. Women sit next to their stalls, selling a wide range of daily life necessities. Here and there they display heaps of clothes for second hand sale.
Our SALT team is on its way to respond to the invitation of a woman whom we just met during a…

« Cela…

Today is October 27, 2010, and SALT team and community members are about to hold their end-of-SALT-visit knowledge fair. I am supposed to facilitate the day, and I am a bit anxious. What format should I propose for a maximum benefit to all involved? Over the last three days, 4 teams visited each 6 communities and everyone learned a…

About three weeks ago, our SALT team visited Asha Jyoti, a centre caring for People Living with AIDS. This visit shattered into pieces my thinking about the organization of health care. My mind and soul are still processing what I saw, heard and felt. I’ll try to share why.
We traveled from Koppal to Kushtagi, about 40 minutes away, through rice, millet and sugarcane fields. On the way our car squashed millet spread on the road, its wheels…
