A few months ago, SALT-related work had started in Vashi village. After discussions with Ritu Nanda, a decision was made to halt the SALT activities there. However, today, when Shahrukh and Jayashree visited with the children, we discussed their plans for future work. Introduction:
Transparency has different definitions linguistically, literally, dictionary wise, socially, traditionally, and sometimes based on a specific context say like in Community Life Competence Process (CLCP). Herein we attempt to give all these definitions; acknowledging that the list is incomplete, as other definitions could be present. Further, we attempt to explain how the meaning of Transparency in a CLCP team, is quite different from the meaning it has in…

Abstract:
This paper argues that The Constellation, as a network of Communities of Practice (CoPs) guided by the Community Life Competence Process (CLCP), can only achieve its full potential when true community ownership is realized. This necessitates a paradigm shift where communities, as the fundamental building blocks of The Constellation, have the ultimate decision-making authority over all aspects of their engagement and development. By recognizing and empowering…

Hook, Line, and Sinker: Ever since Rev. Fr. Macedo, a Jesuit priest, who was my teacher for more than a decade in my school, asked me to define a student, and etched in my brain that the student was someone who studies or is studying; and as the word studying is the present continous form of the verb study, and so, should I not be continuously learning, revising, studying, without ever stopping?; I was gone, hooked for life, as a student of life for life!…

The story of the Pechakola community is a unique example of change. The main characters in this story are Sumi Apa and Jhuma Didi. Sumi Apa had long dreamed of learning tailoring herself and then spreading the skill within the community to empower others. She envisioned taking initiatives that would strengthen their economic and social position. To make this dream a reality, she used the SALT approach.
Through the SALT method, I learned that Sumi Apa had dreamed of learning tailoring…
