Dreams of Joynagar High School

On February 15, 2025, the Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF) team set out from Dhaka, full of excitement. Unlike our previous visit, where we had only interacted with the teachers, this time, we had the opportunity to engage with the students as well. The anticipation of listening to their voices, understanding their dreams, and witnessing their aspirations firsthand…See More

Stories of Change and Hope

I have to share two stories that touched me deeply and stayed in my thoughts. What began as a discussion about mobile phone addiction evolved into a powerful exploration of gender roles and the challenges girls face. The efforts of these communities to address such issues are very inspiring and show how small steps can lead to significant change. In Dokkhinpara and…See More

About Me:
I'm Adila Karim, currently serving as a Partnership and Fundraising Associate at Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF). I've been with GYRF for over a year now.

Before joining GYRF, I had the privilege of serving as an Executive at Acumen Academy Bangladesh. In that role, I played a part in supporting the Acumen Fellowship Program, overseeing administrative tasks, facilitating fellow recruitment, and ensuring smooth program operations.

Prior to my time at Acumen Academy, I dedicated myself to education as a teacher at LORDS – An English Medium School in Dhaka for nearly two and a half years. Additionally, I've been personally tutoring students for the past twelve years, which has been immensely fulfilling.

Beyond my professional roles, I'm honored to be recognized as a young leader of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

I pursued my academic journey at North South University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science (BS) in Economics with a second major in Finance and Accounting, graduating in 2017. Later, I furthered my education at the same institution, completing my Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a major in Human Resource Management in 2021.
My dream:
I want to create a positive impact in the areas of education, partnership building, and community development.
I'm proud of:
- how ethical I am
- how fair I am
- how I try to put other's choice before mine
- how people ask me for advise

Why Schools Are the Best Place to Inspire Change?

Posted on January 5, 2025 at 1:08pm 5 Comments

When we think about creating change in a community, the question arises: where should we start? The answer often lies in a place that holds respect, trust, and influence - the first thing that comes to my mind is - "School".

Schools are more than just buildings where students learn; they are the heart of the community. Teachers and headmasters are not…
