Sustainability of Local Responses and support organisations
Looking below the surface.
I had the privilege to participate at the Global Learning Festival in Bandung, from 21stto 27thOctober 2018. During that event, we carried out SALT visits in the communities around, and the local organisers had done an excellent job in identifying and mobilise 6 groups/communities/organisations…

Why was that partnership exciting and important?
At the beginning of the partnership, there were two incentives and two challenges: and there are often overlaps between challenges and incentives.
Incentive 1: to work on a cross-border issue; the restoration of the confidence between communities, the health staff and the health system in the large and remote area that was heavily affected by the…

In October 2012 I was part of the local facilitators trained by Mr. Sangaré of the Constellation from Bamako. It was my first time hearing about this approach. At first we thought we might become experts, but in reality and in practical terms, it was very simple: SALT was rather a simple way of seeing others and a rewarding way of doing with others. At the end of the training we were required to experiment with a group of people. I decided to do it in my first grassroots community:…

In February 2016, our friends from the group of « Amitoyens » in pays de Gex called us again in order to further extend the Amitoyen’s idea through application of CLCP and SALT with more people as their project is about to scale up. After a brief accompaniment of a small group in 2014, the project successfully grown and moved a few steps ahead with administrative issues - owing to the power of SALT. Their enthusiasm allowed them to identify around 60 more families interested…

I have had recently the chance to watch an interesting movie showing how some people and some communities are responding positively to the current global challenges. It shows how people together can face issues related agriculture, education, energy, waste management, finance and democracy, through local community responses. This a refreshing and positive perspective on the global challenges. And definitively, our SALTy way of working is greatly in line with all what is said in that movie.…

In 2006, we visited a group of widows in rural Kenya. This group was formed in 2001 and to support orphans in the community, orphans from AIDS or any other issues.
The purpose of the visit was to learn about how they had come together and what they actually did as a group, as well…
