Rituu asked in reaction to my post 'What is SALT for me?': "How have you arrived at these conclusions? what has helped?"
What helped me was: sit and look inside, feel what a SALT-situation would need, like it is an entity on its own. Does that make sense to you Rituu Nanda?

In her comment to my blog 'What is SALT for me?' Birgitta Schomaker asked 'How will you remind yourself of trusting the process?' It is not easy to answer that question. Probably it is: stay' with what is there, what is trying to happen. Even if I don't understand it. Keep saying to myself: Stay, stay, stay. And design some alarm bells in my head: when I catch myself on steering in a certain direction, or on wanting to speed up. When I here the 'ding' I have to say to myself 'STAY'.
Today, Thursday 25th October 2018, I was interviewed by Anu about the online SALT-course my triad finished last summer.
Preparing for that interview I was pondering about (among more) the question 'What is SALT for me?'. That is a powerful question that made me look inside and find answers I wasn't aware of before. I like to share some thoughts with you.
For me SALT is:
- Respect for the individual, for the community and for the world.
- The wisdom of the…

Salt-visit at Worldhouse in Amsterdam, November 6th 2017
During the visit I liked a lot the conversation I had with a woman who was colouring a mandala. I started talking to her in English (because we were talking English with the men). It turned out that she was speaking excellent Dutch. I didn't know if that is her mother tongue. What I realized: I automatically spoke English to her because that was the mode I was in.
Learning point in a situation like the Worldhouse: don't…
ContinueIf I’m comfortable with the idea that we need to create and hold a space of trust? O yeah, of course!
My experience of being part of a group where no space of trust did exist: I felt alone; I was able to achieve acceptable results but I didn’t florish; everybody was working on his/her own; there was no synergy; sometimes I felt we were enemies.
When there is trust within a group, the result is far more than the sum of its parts; being and working together is fun, gives…

Module 1, Exercise 1: Reflection on Amber’s story
For me Amber’s story is a reflection of me feeling uncomfortable, not at ease and shy when I read about history at school: I never understood why people (or countries) would do (e.g.) missionary work. Already as a kid it made me angry. I didn’t use the words I can use now: for me it felt so disrespectful to impose something on others. And of course, I don’t know anything about how the missionaries acted and how they were received. I…
ContinueWhat do we have in common?
Before we (Nemo-group: Noemí, Amir, Birgitta and Margot) made our first SALT-visit we talked about what we would have in common with the people we were going to meet.
For me that is a very important ‘exercise’, because it takes me out of my head and brings me into my heart and feelings.
I like to share my experience about using the exercise ‘What do I have in common with’ in my everyday…

'Why do we sit in a circle' was one of the first questions I was pondering and writing about after starting the SALT-course. In fact, there were more questions: 'How does hierarchy impact meetings?', 'How do rank differences show up in meetings?', 'What does a non-hierarchical setting means?', 'How do you create a non-hierarchical setting?', 'What will sitting in a circle do?'. These are my answers, based on my experiences in private and business situations.
When hierarchy is…
