Module 1, Exercise 1: Reflection on Amber’s story
For me Amber’s story is a reflection of me feeling uncomfortable, not at ease and shy when I read about history at school: I never understood why people (or countries) would do (e.g.) missionary work. Already as a kid it made me angry. I didn’t use the words I can use now: for me it felt so disrespectful to impose something on others. And of course, I don’t know anything about how the missionaries acted and how they were received. I trust they came with respect and I really hope they all acted in a Salty-way (nothing was written about that in the history books).
As an adult, I thought I’m not fit for working in a not-for-profit organisation. And I was happy that others could do what I couldn’t.
Now I’m slowly getting familiar with CLCP and SALT through the online SALT-course, I understand how I can do work like this, and feeling completely at ease!
