When Children Lead With Curiosity :A Simple Iron Test that Amazed Me.

আমরা মাঝেমাঝে মনে করি শিশুরা আর কতখানি বোঝে! কিন্তু একজন শিশুকে যদি তার শক্তি উপলব্ধি করানো যায় তাহলে সে একদিন পুরো বিশ্ব জয় করে আপনাকে দেখাতে পারে। তাই তাদের উপর বিশ্বাস রাখা জরুরি।
জয়নগর হাই স্কুলের ৮ম শ্রেনির শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের স্বপ্নের স্কুল বাস্তবায়নে ধীরে ধীরে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে। ইতোমধ্যে তারা নিরাপদ পানির সুব্যবস্থা করেছে মাটির হাড়ি, পাথর,কয়লা,ও ছাকনি ব্যবহার করে। তো আমরা ভেবেছিলাম তাহলে তো হয়েই গেলো ফিল্টার। কিন্তু জিনিসটি তৈরি করেই থেমে যায়নি ছাত্রছাত্রীদের প্রচেষ্টা। পানি সত্যিকার অর্থে নিরাপদ হলো কিনা তা তো শিক্ষার্থীদের বুঝতে হবে। কিভাবে যেনো তারা আবিষ্কার করে ফেললো এক পদ্ধতি। সেটা হলোঃ
পেয়ারা পাতা দিয়ে সহজে আয়রন পরীক্ষা !
যা তারা কোন বই থেকে শেখেনি তবে কিভাবে এই পদ্ধতি কাজে লাগিয়ে পরীক্ষা করেছে? তাদের যুক্তি এবং পরীক্ষার টেকনিক দেখে আমি সত্যিই বিস্মিত।
আপনি কি জানেন যে সামান্য পেয়ারা পাতা দিয়েই পরীক্ষা করা যায় আপনার খাবার পানিতে আয়রন আছে কিনা? পেয়ারা পাতা হাত দিয়ে একটু কচলে নিয়ে পানির গ্লাসে রাখার কিছুক্ষন পরই অতিরিক্ত আয়রনযুক্ত পানির রঙ কালচে হয়ে পড়ে। অন্যদিকে আয়রনবিহীন পানির রঙ আগের মতনই পরিষ্কার থেকে যায়।
গত ফলো আপে এই বিশেষ অভিজ্ঞতার সম্মুখীন হই। জয়নগর হাই স্কুলে শিক্ষার্থীদের দ্বারা তৈরি মাটির হাড়ি দিয়ে ফিল্টার বানানো দেখতে গিয়ে তাদের থেকে এই ক্ষুদ্র বৈজ্ঞানিক বিষয়টি সম্পর্কে জানতে পারি এবং শিখতে পারি। আসলে শিশুরা খুব ক্রিয়েটিভ হয়ে থাকে যেটা আমি তাদের দেখে রিয়েলাইজ করি। বিষয়টি আমার বিস্ময়কর লেগেছে। তাদের উৎসাহে আমি নিজে উৎসাহিত হই এবং নিজেও পানি পান করি। অনেক আনন্দ ও লাগে মনের মধ্যে। শিশুরা এভাবেই এগিয়ে যাক। সারা বিশ্বে ছড়িয়ে পড়ুক ওদের প্রতিভা।

Sometimes we think—how much do children really understand! But if a child is facilitated to realize their own strength, one day they can conquer the whole world and show it to you. That is why it is so important to believe in them.
The 8th-grade students of Joynagar High School are gradually moving forward to make their dream school a reality. Already, they have arranged safe drinking water by creating a filter using clay pots, stones, charcoal, and sieves. We thought, well, that’s the filter done! But the students didn’t stop there. They wanted to be sure whether the water was truly safe. Somehow, they discovered a unique method—

Testing iron in water using guava leaves!
This wasn’t something they learned from any book, but the way they reasoned and carried out the test really amazed me.
Did you know that with just a guava leaf you can check if your drinking water contains iron? By crushing a guava leaf slightly and putting it into a glass of water, within a few minutes, the water containing excess iron turns dark in color. On the other hand, water without iron remains as clear as before.
During my last follow-up visit, I came across this special experience. While observing the clay pot filter made by the students at Joynagar High School, I also learned this small scientific technique from them. Watching them, I truly realized how creative children can be. This discovery astonished me. Their enthusiasm inspired me, and I even drank the filtered water myself. It filled my heart with joy.
May these children keep moving forward like this. May their talents spread across the world.
