SALT Champions have been encouraging the community as part of their action plans for safe drinking water in Borjana village under Srijangram health Block, Bongaigaon district in Assam, India. The action plan came after they compiled their dream and did self assessment of their dream. As a result 50-70% people in the village have started boiling or filtering water. They use hand made water filters.
Photos of dream building and self assessment meeting held on 22nd Sep 2017. See the village's measurement of their own progress. The first self assessmen (done in Sep 2017) and third self assessment (done in Sep 2018).

Yesterday I met some of these champions who are active- jobidul islam sardar, Mofidul islam, shahabul islam sorkar, Lalchand miya, Musharof Hussain. they are worried if the water they filter gets properly filtered. They plan to discuss with Public health engineer department about the water testing program in September 2019. Then they will organise a public meeting on cleanliness & water filtering in a part of the village. Because that part is a very hygienic according to them.
I ask them if SALT facilitators will not come to their village then what will the responsibility of the community. Then they said it is our society so our own responsibility to develop the community.

Thank you for sharing Baharul. It must be great for you to see these results of your facilitation. Congratulations! It is interesting to see that practices are more specific in the third self-assessment.
