শাপলা টিমের সবুজ স্বপ্নের পথে যাত্রা - The Shapla Team's Journey Toward Green Dreams.

গত বছর ব্রেড অর্গানাইজেশন ও ধারা অর্গানাইজেশনের সাথে অনলাইন মিটিংয়ে অংশগ্রহণ করে আমাদের ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটির হিজলিপাড়ার আপারা। এই মিটিং এ অংশগ্রহণ এর মাধ্যমে আমাদের আপারা অন্য কমিউনিটির মানুষদের সবজি বাগান সম্পর্কে জানতে পারে। জানতে পারে কিভাবে সবজি বাগান এর পরিচর্চা করা যায়। এই মিটিং এর পর থেকে আমি আপাদের মধ্যে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন লক্ষ্য করেছি।

আজ ব্যাসপুরের হিজলিপাড়ায় শাপলা টিমে ফলোআপে গিয়েছিলাম। বসন্তে চারপাশে গাছপালার কিছুটা রুক্ষ ভাবমূর্তি থাকলেও সবজি বাগানে দেখা গেল সবুজের সমারোহ। শাপলা টিমের আপাদের পরিশ্রম ধীরে ধীরে তাদের আলোর পথে এগিয়ে নিচ্ছে। এখন প্রায় প্রতিটি বাড়ির আঙিনায় কোনো না কোনো সবজি চাষ করা হচ্ছে, যা তাদের নিত্যদিনের প্রয়োজন মেটাতে সাহায্য করছে।
স্বপ্না আপার জমিতে বর্তমানে বেগুন, ঢেঁড়স, কচু ও আখ চাষ হচ্ছে। খুশি আপার জমিতে রয়েছে বেগুন ও কচু। সবিরন আপার বাড়ির আঙিনায় লাউ ও বেগুন চাষ করা হয়েছে। শাহানারা আপার বাড়ির আঙিনায় শিম, বেগুন, টমেটো, লাউ ও মরিচ রয়েছে। সালমা আপার বাড়ির আঙিনায় শিম, বেগুন ও ডাটা চাষ করা হয়েছে।

ফলোআপের সময় আপারা খুব গর্বের সাথে তাদের সবজি বাগানের গল্প শোনাচ্ছিলেন। এ বছর বেগুনের বাজারদর বেশি হওয়া সত্ত্বেও তাদের এক পয়সাও খরচ করতে হয়নি। বরং তারা নিজেদের চাষ করা সবজি ব্যবহার করার পাশাপাশি কিছু সবজি বিক্রি করে আয়ও করছেন। যারা বাড়ির আঙিনায় চাষ করেছেন তারা মূলত নিজেদের প্রয়োজন মেটাচ্ছেন, আর যারা জমিতে চাষ করেছেন তারা বাজারে বিক্রি করে অর্থ উপার্জন করছেন।
এছাড়াও তারা শেয়ার করেছেন তারা নিজেদের ঘরের পাশেই একটা জায়গা খু্ঁড়ে প্রতিদিনের পচনশীল ময়লা সেখানে রাখছে যাতে তারা সেখান থেকে সার বানাতে পারে। এই সার তারা তাদের সবজি বাগানে ব্যবহার করবে।
এই কাজ গুলো দেখে আমি বুঝলাম কেন এক কমিউনিটির শিক্ষা অন্য কমিউনিটিতে জানানো দরকার। কেন আমাদের Knowledge Share করা দরকার। ধন্যবাদ আমাদের ধারা এবং ব্রেড টিমকে আমাদের আপাদের সাথে তাদের কমিউনিটির মানুষের Knowledge Share এর সুযোগটা করে দেওয়ার জন্য।

Last year, the mothers from Hijlipara of the Byaspur community participated in an online meeting with the BRED Organization and DHARA Organization. Through this meeting, they learned from people of other communities about vegetable gardening. They also learned how to take proper care of a vegetable garden. Since that meeting, I have noticed a positive change among the mothers.
Today I visited the Shapla Team in Hijlipara, Byaspur for a follow-up. Although the surroundings looked a bit dry due to the spring season, the vegetable gardens were full of greenery. The hard work of the sisters from the Shapla Team is gradually leading them toward a brighter path. Now almost every household has some kind of vegetable growing in their yard, which helps meet their daily needs.
In Swapna Apa’s field, eggplant, okra, taro, and sugarcane are currently being cultivated. Khushi Apa’s field has eggplant and taro. In Sabiron Apa’s yard, bottle gourd and eggplant are being grown. In Shahanara Apa’s yard, there are beans, eggplant, tomatoes, bottle gourd, and chili. In Salma Apa’s yard, there are beans, eggplant, and data (a type of leafy vegetable).
During the follow-up visit, the mothers proudly shared stories about their vegetable gardens. This year, despite the high market price of eggplant, they did not have to spend any money to buy it. Instead, they are using the vegetables they grow and even earning money by selling some of them. Those who grow vegetables in their home yards mainly use them for their own needs, while those who cultivate on larger land sell their produce in the market and earn income.
They also shared that they have dug a small pit beside their houses where they are putting their daily biodegradable waste. From this, they plan to make compost and use it as fertilizer for their vegetable gardens.
Seeing these activities made me realize why it is important to share knowledge from one community with another, and why knowledge sharing is so valuable. I would like to thank the DHARA and BRED teams for creating the opportunity for our mothers to learn from the knowledge and experiences of people from other communities.
