Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF) এর সবাই এবং আমাদের কমিউনিটির মানুষের নিরলস প্রচেষ্টায় নলেজ ফেয়ার প্রোগ্রাম অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এখানে দেশ-বিদেশের অতিথী ছাড়াও কমিউনিটি মানুষের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে এক আনন্দঘন পরিবেশের সৃষ্টি হয়। পরবর্তীতে কমিউনিটি পর্যায়ে আমরা পর্যবেক্ষণের মাধ্যমে যা যা জানতে পারলাম আজকে সে বিষয় নিয়েই লেখার চেষ্টা করছি। আশা করছি সবাই বুঝতে পারবেন, জ্ঞানের মেলার মাধ্যমে কিভাবে একে অপরের কাছ থেকে আমরা শিখতে পারি। আমাদের গ্রামের মানুষের অন্তর্নিহিত অনুভূতি এবং শিক্ষা কিভাবে তাদের জীবনে কাজে লাগাতে পারেন সেটা নিয়ে তারা ভাবছেন এখন। নিজেরাই কিভাবে তাদের শক্তির সদ্ব্যবহার করা যায় চিন্তা করছেন। এক কমিউনিটির লোক অন্য কমিউনিটি লোকের সাথে মিলবন্ধনের মাধ্যমে নিজেদের শক্তিকে কাজে লাগাতে চান এখন তারা। ব্যাসপুর গ্রামের মানুষ স্বপ্নেও কখনো ভাবেনি গ্রাম পর্যায়ে এমন প্রোগ্রাম অনুষ্ঠিত হবে যেখানে তারা নিজ উদ্যোগে অংশগ্রহণ করবেন। কমিউনিটির উত্তর পাড়া, দক্ষিণপাড়া, হিজলি এবং কাটাখালিতে আমরা খোঁজ খবর নিয়ে জানতে পারি প্রোগ্রামটা তাদের কাছে খুবই আনন্দদায়ক ছিল। এ ধরনের প্রোগ্রাম তারা কখনো আগে দেখেননি। পুরোটা প্রোগ্রাম জুড়েইছিল জ্ঞান ভাগাভাগির সুযোগ। একজনের জ্ঞান আরেকজনকে ভাগ করে দেয়ার সুযোগ এবং সেখান থেকে শিক্ষা নিয়ে বাস্তব জীবনে প্রয়োগ ঘটানো। আর এরই ধারাবাহিকতায় জয়নগর মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক ও কিছু শিক্ষার্থী মিলে ব্রেডের শিক্ষাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে নিরাপদ পানির ব্যবস্থা করতে চান ক্লাসে হাতে তৈরি ফিল্টার স্থাপনের মাধ্যমে। এছাড়া প্রধান শিক্ষক এতটাই অনুপ্রেরণিত হয়েছেন যে নলেজ ফেয়ারের পরের দিনই তিনি বিদ্যালয় এর ফুলবাগানে বেড়া নির্মাণ করেছেন। যাতে শিক্ষার্থীদের হাতে বানানো বাগান নষ্ট না হয়। এছাড়াও সহকারী প্রধান শিক্ষক তাদের স্বপ্নের সবগুলো কাজ বাস্তবায়নের জন্য কয়েকটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কাজ হাতে নিয়েছেন বিশেষ করে মেয়েদের খেলাধুলার মাঠের দ্রুত সংস্কার করা। শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য ভালো মানের লাইব্রেরি নিশ্চিত করা। ইংলিশ ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজ ক্লাব স্থাপন করা। এছাড়া উত্তর পাড়ার শাহানারা আপা ছেলেমেয়েদেরকে আগে নিয়ে খেলাধুলা করাতেন এখন তিনি যেটুকু পারেন সেটুক তাদেরকে লেখাপড়া শিখাতে চান। কারন জ্ঞানের মেলাতে হিজলিপাড়ার মায়েদের গল্প শুনে এবং দেখে সে ভীষণভাবে অনুপ্রাণিত। এছাড়া কাটাখালিতে রুকাইয়া এবং তিশা শুক্র এবং শনিবারে ছেলে-মেয়েদেরকে খেলাধুলার পাশাপাশি গল্প শোনাতে চান। হিজলিপাড়ার দাদাদাদীর গল্পের আসর চোখের সামনে দেখে সে দৃঢ় প্রতিজ্ঞবদ্ধ। কাটাখালীর দাদাদাদীরাও গল্পের আসর বসাবেন বলে ঠিক করেছেন। হিজলী পাড়াতে নিপা এবং শম্পা ভাবি ছেলেমেয়েদেরকে লেখাপড়া এবং খেলাধুলা ও গল্প শোনাতে চান নিয়মিত। এখন থেকে আর কামাই দেবেন না বলে জানিয়েছেন। কারন তারা যে এতো মানুষের সামনে তাদের কাজের কথা জানাতে পেরেছেন এটা চিন্তা করেই তারা অন্ত্যন্ত আনন্দিত এবং সামনে আরো ভালো কাজ করার জন্য অনুপ্রাণিত। এছাড়া দক্ষিণ পাড়াতে তানজিলা তার বিদ্যালয়ে সল্ট ফ্যাসিলিটেট করবে নিয়মিত। এছাড়া রানা এবং রাকিব তার সমবয়সী এবং অভিভাবক পিতা-মাতাদেরকে মেয়েদের খেলার ব্যবস্থা ও তাদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার জন্য সচেতন করতে চান আরো বেশি বেশি। ছেলেমেয়েরা নিজের উদ্যোগে তাদের ওয়াশরুম নিজেরাই পরিষ্কার রাখার জন্য আত্মনিবেশ করতে চান আরো বেশি। পরবর্তী নলেজ ফেয়ারের মাধ্যমে তারা মানুষকে আরো সচেতন ও উদ্বুদ্ধ করতে চান। কমিউনিটির মানুষের মধ্যে নলেজ ফেয়ার এর মাধ্যমে যে এত বেশি প্রভাব ফেলবে সেটা আমরা স্বপ্নেও আশা করিনি। তাই মানুষের শক্তিকে কাজে লাগিয়ে কমিউনিটি মানুষের ভাগ্য উন্নয়নের চাবিকাঠি তাদের হাতে তুলে দিতে আমরা নিরলস ভাবে কাজ করতে চাই।

The Knowledge Fair program was successfully held through the tireless efforts of everyone at the Grow Your Reader Foundation (GYRF) and the wholehearted participation of our community members. The event was filled with joy and enthusiasm, with spontaneous involvement from the community alongside guests from both home and abroad. Today, I want to share what we have observed and learned at the community level following the Fair. I hope this helps everyone understand how, through the Knowledge Fair, we can learn from each other and grow together.

Now, the people of our village are beginning to reflect on their inner emotions and wisdom and how they can apply that knowledge in their daily lives. They are thinking about how to make better use of their own strengths — and how different communities can come together and unite their efforts for greater impact. The people of Baspur village had never even dreamed that such a program could take place at the village level — and that they themselves would actively participate in it.

1. From our follow-ups in the areas of Uttar Para, Dakshin Para, Hijlipara, and Katakhali, we learned that the program brought them immense joy. They had never seen anything like it before. The entire event created opportunities for knowledge sharing — for one person to pass on their knowledge to another and for that knowledge to be applied in real life.

2. Continuing from that experience, the Head Teacher of Joynagar Secondary School, along with some students, plans to ensure access to safe drinking water in their classroom using handmade filters inspired by what they learned about water education during the Fair. Not only that — the Head Teacher was so inspired that the very next day after the Fair, he built a fence around the school’s flower garden so that the student-made garden would be protected.

3. Additionally, the Assistant Head Teacher has taken on several important projects to make their dreams a reality — especially the renovation of the girls' playground, establishing a quality library, and setting up an English Language Club.

4. In Uttar Para, Shahanara Apa, who used to only play with the children, now also wants to help them with their studies — inspired deeply by the stories and efforts of the mothers

5. in Hijlipara shared at the Fair. In Katakhali, Rukaiya and Tisha now plan to engage children every Friday and Saturday with games and storytelling. Having witnessed the grandparent storytelling circle in Hijlipara, they are determined to start one in their own area. The elders of Katakhali have also agreed to host similar storytelling sessions.

6. In Hijlipara, Nipa and Shampa Bhabi now wish to regularly help children with both studies and play, along with sharing stories. They said they no longer want to miss out — because they were overjoyed by the opportunity to present their work in front of so many people, and now feel even more motivated to do good work in the future. In Dakshin Para, Tanzila plans to facilitate regular SALT sessions at her school.

7. Meanwhile, Rana and Rakib are committed to raising awareness among their peers and parents about the importance of creating safe spaces and opportunities for girls to play. The children themselves are now eager to clean their own washrooms — taking more responsibility for their surroundings. Through the next Knowledge Fair, they want to raise even more awareness and inspire more people. We never imagined that the Knowledge Fair would have such a deep impact on the community — even in our wildest dreams. That’s why we want to continue working tirelessly — so that, by tapping into the power of people, we can place the key to development directly into the hands of the community members themselves.
