Connecting local responses around the world
Himani Sharma worked as SALT facilitator in NGO called Mamta, India. In this video, she shares her experience of engaging patients and communities in #HealthRise project supported by Abt Associates in Catholic Health Foundation of India - Udaipur and NGO Mamta- Shimla (India). This project used Constellation's approach CLCP and SALT for patient-centred approach to #NCDs # diabetes #hypertension. Himani worked as outreach worker in the project.
Here is a summary of her video in English. She was interviewed by Dr Nayanjeet Chaudhury.
My role has been of a facilitator . Before SALT, we used to go as outreach worker (ORW) and talk about work. Now after SALT, there is a family like relation with the patients. Apart from work and health, we talk about their life and what activities they do.
Experience with SALT has been good. People did not care about their health. But now after SALT and CLCP sharing about health practices between the community members have increased. People have begun to listen to each other. It seems that if SALT remains in the community, the community will surely change.
