Salt and CLCP were introduced in West Java in 2008 when UNFPA country program was piloting aids and adolescent reproductive health (ARH) competence. During that period Elma, youth program officer in West java Family planning Board, was invited to observe cLCP training in Tasikmalaya District and been inspired to use CLCP and SaLT on her youth program. Indocompetence was invited to train students and youths members of ARH groups that were established in the communities and campus. This took place on the 2010s.
At 2018, Elma was a manager of the family planning training center and called me to develop training curricula for the family planning task force in the eastern part of west java. She thought that FP Board has many tools but most of them were not working because FP task force needs more spirit and encouragement to use it. Their mindset should be changed and she believes SaLt can be a solution. So Indocompetence trained 11 batches of village-level stakeholders who are working on Kampung KB.
Then she was promoted to be head of advocacy and FP frontliner movement division at the provincial FP board. We shared our training AAR at the provincial level meeting among advocacy head division of 27 districts at west java.
Among the district, Bandung City advocacy coordinator invited us to share more about SALT in the advocacy meeting among district level stakeholders on the preparation of Kampung KB program implementation. Following that meeting, we shared SALT and CLCP to 13 kampung KB at 11 sub-district in Bandung. Recently we are preparing AAR sharing at a district level meeting.
Elma keeps Indocompetence been connected to respective parties on the west java FP board, including reconnecting us with the head of FP at West Java Province, Mr Sukaryo Teguh Santoso. He was former UNFPA supporter in west java and we see that this is an open opportunity of SALT influencing FP in more systematic way
