গত কিছুদিন আগে আমি দক্ষিনপাড়ার অভিযাত্রী টিমের ফলোআপ এ গিয়েছিলাম। তানজিলা, সাকিবা,মিম্মিসহ দলের সকলের সাথে শীত কেমন কাটছে, কীভাবে শীতে নিজেকে প্রটেক্ট করছে এ বিষয়ে কথা বলি। শীতের কথা বলতে বলতেই আমাদের মাঝে কথা আসে সমাজের এমন সব মানুষদের যাদের এই শীতে গায়ে দেওয়ার কিছু নেই। তখন তারা চিন্তা করে বলে তাই তো! কখনো তো এদের কথা এভাবে ভেবে দেখিনি। তখন আমি জানতে চাই তোমরা কী কিছু করতে চাও এই অসহায় মানুষদের জন্য ? তখন তারা বলে তারা সবাই মিলে এমন ব্যক্তিদেরকে খুঁজে বের করতে চায়, যাদের শীতে খুব মানবেতর জীবন যাপন করছে। সেদিন তারা আমার থেকে সময় চেয়ে নেয়। একদিন তারা পুরো গ্রামটা ঘুরে দেখবে এবং এমন ব্যক্তিকে খুঁজে বের করবে। তাদের সাথে কথা বলবে। এবং তাদেরকে নিয়ে কি করা যায় সেই চিন্তাভাবনা আমাকে পরের সাক্ষাৎকারে শেয়ার করবে। সেদিন আমার তাদের সাথে এতোটুকু কথা হয়। এবং সময় নেয় তারা শনিবার বিকালে আমার সাথে আবার বসবে। ফেরার সময় ম্যাস্কিউলিনিটি টিমের রাকিবুল সহ অন্যদের সাথে দেখা হয়। তাদের সাথে আমি তানজিলার অভিযাত্রী টিমের কথোপকথন গুলো শেয়ার করি এবং তাদের চিন্তাধারাও। এতে রাকিবুল স্বদিচ্ছা পোষন করে তারাও তাদের টিমের সাথে একত্রিত হয়ে কিছু একটা করতে চায় শীতে কষ্ট পাচ্ছে এমন ব্যক্তিদের জন্য।

বৃহস্পতিবার বিকাল পর্যন্ত তাদের সাথে আমার এতটুকু ফ্যাসিলিটেশন হয়। শনিবার বিকালে তারা আমাকে আবার যেতে বলে। শনিবার বিকালের আগে তাদের সাথে আমার ফোনে কথা হয়। রানা জানায়, তারা তাদের গ্রামে এবং তাদের পাড়াতেই দুইজন বৃদ্ধাকে খুঁজে বের করেছে যারা শীতে খুব কষ্টে দিন অতিবাহিত করছে। তারা তাদের মানসিক অবস্থা বুঝতে পেরে নিজেরা মিলে বেশ কিছু চাঁদা তুলেছে যা দিয়ে তাদের পাশে দাঁড়াতে চায়। এখানে আমি জানতে চাই তারা কি ধরনের সাপোর্ট করবে? রানা জানায় আপু আমরা এবং অভিযাত্রী টিমের সবাই মিলে বৃদ্ধা দুইজনকে শীত নিবারনের জন্য কম্বল দিয়ে সাপোর্ট করতে চাই। রানার সাথে কথা বলার শেষ করে আমি তানজিলা কে কল করি। তানজিলা টিমের চিন্তা ধারা এবং রাকিবুল রানাদের চিন্তাধারা একই। দুই টিম মিলে তারা ৩০০ টাকা সংগ্রহ করেছে বলে জানায়। এবং এই টাকার মধ্যেই তারা দুইটা কম্বল কেনার সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়। এই জায়গাটাতে আমার মনে হয়েছে তারাও আমার সাথে ফ্যাসিলিটেশনের কাজ করে। সব কথা বলা শেষে তারা আমাকে জানায় আপনি বাজার থেকে আসার পথে কম্বল নিয়ে আসেন আমরা এখানে আসলে টাকা দিচ্ছি এবং আপনার সাথে গিয়ে সেই ব্যক্তি দুজনকে বিতরণ করছি। বেশ তাদের কথামতো আমি ফিল্ডে বের হওয়ার আগে বাজারে যাই। দোকানে গিয়ে খোঁজ করি এবং পেয়ে যাই। দোকানদার দুইটা কম্বল ৪০০ টাকা চায়। দোকানদারের সাথে আমি ছোট্ট কোমলমতি কিশোর কিশোরীদের উদ্যোগের কথা শেয়ার করি। তখন দোকানদার সহানুভূতি প্রকাশ করে। তারও এসকল কাজ ভালো লাগে তবে করা হয়ে ওঠেনা। তখন সে বলে ৪০০ টাকা না আপনি ৩৫০ টাকা দিয়ে নিয়ে যান। আমি কোন লাভ ছাড়াই এটা দিব যেহেতু অসহায় মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়াবে তারা। সেভাবেই আমি দুটি কম্বল নিয়ে কমিউনিটিতে হাজির হই। সাকিবা তানজিলা এবং তন্বী মিলে সেই দুই বৃদ্ধার বাড়িতে গিয়ে কম্বল জড়িয়ে দেয়।এমনকি তাদের সাথে তাদের বর্তমান অবস্থা সম্পর্কে জানতে চেয়ে অনেক গল্প করে। বৃদ্ধা দুজন তাদের কথায় অনেক সন্তুষ্ট হয় এবং গরম কাপড় পেয়ে অনেক খুশি হয়। রানা রাকিব সেদিন বিতরণে অংশগ্রহণ করতে পারে নাই। আর অভিযাত্রী টিম তাদের উদ্যোগে মানুষের পাশে থাকতে পেরে অনেক গর্বিত।

A few days ago, I went for a follow-up visit with the Dokkhinpara Avijatri Team. I talked with Tanjila, Sakiba, Mimmy, and all the team members about how they were spending the winter and how they were protecting themselves from the cold. While talking about winter, the discussion gradually turned to those people in society who have nothing to wear to protect themselves from the cold.
At that moment, they realized and said, “That’s true! We never really thought about them this way before.” Then I asked them, “Do you like to do anything for these helpless people?” They replied that they wanted to find such individuals together who were living in extremely difficult conditions during winter. That day, they asked me for some time. They planned to walk around the entire village, identify such people, talk to them, and think about what could be done for them. They said they would share their thoughts with me in the next meeting. That was all we discussed that day, and they asked to sit with me again on Saturday afternoon.
While returning, I met Rakibul and others from the Masculinity Team. I shared with them the conversation I had with Tanjila’s Avijatri Team and their thoughts. Hearing this, Rakibul expressed his willingness, saying that their team also wanted to come together and do something for people who were suffering during the winter.
Up to Thursday afternoon, this was the extent of my facilitation with them. They asked me to visit again on Saturday afternoon. Before Saturday, I spoke with them over the phone. Rana informed me that they had identified two elderly women in their village and neighborhood who were suffering greatly from the cold. Understanding their mental and living conditions, they had collectively raised some donations to stand by them.
At this point, I asked what kind of support they were planning to provide. Rana said, “Sister, all of us together, including the Avijatri Team, want to support the two elderly women by giving them blankets to protect them from the cold.” After finishing my conversation with Rana, I called Tanjila. Tanjila informed me that both her team’s thinking and Rakibul and Rana’s team’s thinking were the same. Together, the two teams had collected 300 taka and decided to buy two blankets with that money.
At this point, I felt that they were also doing facilitation work along with me. After all the discussions, they informed me, “You bring the blankets from the market on your way, and when you arrive here, we will give you the money and go with you to distribute them to the two individuals.”
As planned, before going to the field, I went to the market. I searched in the shops and found blankets. The shopkeeper asked for 400 taka for two blankets. I shared with him the story of this small initiative taken by kind-hearted adolescents. The shopkeeper showed empathy. He said that he also liked such work, although he could not always do it himself. Then he said, “Instead of 400 taka, you can take them for 350 taka. I won’t make any profit, since this is for standing beside helpless people.”
In this way, I took the two blankets and went to the community. Sakiba, Tanjila, and Tanbi went together to the houses of the two elderly women and wrapped the blankets around them. They also talked with them at length, asking about their current condition and listening to their stories. The two elderly women were very satisfied with their conversation and were extremely happy to receive the warm clothes.
Rana and Rakib could not participate in the distribution that day. However, the Avijatri Team felt very proud to be able to stand beside people through their own initiative.
