Planting Seeds for Tomorrow: My Story from Sambandha Bistar

My name is Martha Hitang, and I am from Pokhara city. I am a student of social work. I grew up in a normal family, with loving parents and a sister, who have always been deeply involved in social work and activism. From a young age, I saw their dedication to helping communities, and it inspired me to want to give back as well.I went to a convent school, and growing up…See More

About Me:
Hi, I’m Martha. I come from Nepal and currently work with young people and communities on issues of gender equality and social action. I love bringing people together, creating safe spaces for conversation, and learning from others’ lived experiences. I’d say I’m someone who is curious, compassionate, and always excited to connect with people who are working to make a difference.
My dream:
My dream is simple yet powerful I want to see a community where young people, especially girls, can grow up free from violence, inequality, and fear. I hope to create and be part of movements that open doors for them to dream bigger, live freely, and lead boldly. In the long run, I’d love to see a world where community voices — no matter how small are heard and respected in shaping change.
I'm proud of:
I feel proud of being able to step into spaces where change feels difficult and still start the conversation. Recently, I’ve been part of programs that gave young girls and mothers a voice to talk openly about gender and social issues — something that doesn’t always happen in our context. Seeing their trust, courage, and willingness to share makes me proud of the small role I’ve played in holding that space.
