An invitation to help us with the Constellation's Blended Learning Programme

Dear members of Ning

Over the last year, Farellia Venance and myself have been working on the development of a ‘Blended Learning Programme’. This training programme introduces students to the ‘AIDS Competence Process’.
Our idea is that a group of people will form a Salt Team and work their way through the programme. We are calling it a BLENDED Learning Programme because as the team work its way through the modules, learning will be based around the Salt visits carried out by the Salt Team. They will be supported in this ‘Learning by Experience’ through the support of a Constellation Coach, written material on the web and Discussion Forums.

The Blended Learning Programme is made up of 6 modules:
1. The Power of Local Response
2. Our Way of Working and Our Way of Thinking
3. Building the Dream
4. Self Assessment
5. Planning and Self Measurement of Change
6. Learning and Sharing

Three groups are currently working their way through the programme, two in Brussels and one in Barcelona, to help us to understand the challenges of learning in this way.
At the moment, the programme is in English. We are starting to develop a French version of the programme using our experience in French speaking countries. We are also going to produce a version in Spanish.

Are there people in the Ning community who would be willing to look at this programme and to give us their comments? We realise that to work through the whole programme would take a lot of effort so we would be very grateful if you would consider looking at a particular module where you have an interest and/or experience. If you would be willing to help us in this way, could you please contact either of us and we will give you access to the course.

Your contribution would be an important contribution to the development of the programme that we see as an innovation for the Constellation to help us to spread competence more quickly than the virus.

Depuis un an, Farellia Venance et moi-même travaillons à la conception d'un « Programme de formation intégrée » de facilitateurs. Un programme de formation qui introduit les participants au processus de compétence face au SIDA.
L’idée est d'avoir un groupe de personnes (de participants) formant une équipe SALT et avançant ensemble dans le programme. Nous l'avons appelé « programme de formation INTÉGRÉE » parce que l'équipe SALT, module après module, apprend sur base de visites SALT facilitées en équipe. Ils sont soutenus dans cet « apprentissage par l’expérience » par un coach de la Constellation, par du matériel écrit et audiovisuel contenu sur le site Web et par l’échange sur des forums de discussion.
Le programme de formation intégré se compose de 6 modules :
1. La force de la réponse locale
2. Notre manière de travailler et notre façon de penser
3. Construire le rêve
4. L’auto-évaluation
5. La planification et l’auto-mesure du changement
6. Apprendre et partager
Trois groupes suivent pour l’instant le programme, deux à Bruxelles et un à Barcelone, afin de nous aider à comprendre les défis de ce type de formation intégrée.
Pour l’instant, le programme est en anglais. Nous commençons à développer une version française du programme en se basant sur notre expérience dans les pays francophones. Et, nous allons également produire une version espagnole du programme.
Nous comptons à présent sur votre aide pour améliorer le programme. Ainsi, y aurait-il parmi vous des personnes disposés et intéressées à se pencher sur ce programme et à nous donner leurs commentaires ?
Nous savons que lire et commenter l’ensemble du programme demanderait beaucoup de temps et d'efforts. Aussi nous vous serions déjà très reconnaissants si vous envisagiez de regarder un module en particulier, un module pour lequel vous avez un intérêt et/ou une expérience que vous désirez partager.

I believe that is a wonderful idea !

I would urge all the members to facilitate and strengthen the beautifully developed ‘Blended Learning Programme’.

This training programme will definitely go a long way in the meaningful involvement of the students to the ‘AIDS Competence Process’.

In my individual capacity l will definitely help in formation of a Salt Team so that they work their way through the programme.

I am confident that the Blended Learning Programme will go a long way in ensuring the team work and capacity building through the modules.

The enhancement of the capacity and gaining of valuable experience by the Salt Team must be supported by written material on the web.There is a huge level of relevant experience available with all of us. The combined experience of all of us must be a thousand year of experience(as per my guesstimate) that we may collate and consolidate through the discussion forums.

Hi Phil and Farellia,

Sorry could not get back to you sooner. I have heard Farellia's introductory note. Thanks for the explanation of blendded learning. I was thinking having Farellia's notes written in the 'introduction' too. Also mentioning who are elligible for the blended learning ( I guess all who are interested to be a facilitator for AIDS Competence). Mention whether there will be coach/s ( like distance learning courses) to support on-line.

Farellia mentioned about tools/ supports that would be required during the course ..I think writing it down like ....make a team of 3-6 people, get your internet connection etc would be useful information to have at the beginning.

Module I:

The module speaks of local response but how ACP sees an individuals' role in organizing local response, initiation, I think it is important we talk about that at the outset of this module.

In the examplse of local response can we not add the recent experiences at PNG ( the evaluation report), also sharing recent experience of Malaria competence. How about ning? Put some 'stories'/ blogges from ning how a local response start germinating etc. I think that would be lively and encouraging.

Shall we also not talk about Life Competence at the beginning?
