পাহাড়িয়াপাড়ার মানুষ ঠিক করেছেন তারা নিজেরা একটা বেসলাইন সার্ভে করবে। তাই ২১শে ডিসেম্বর পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া মাটির স্কুলের শিশু শ্রেণীতে বেজ লাইন সার্ভে সম্পর্কিত একটি প্রোগ্রাম অনুষ্ঠিত হয় পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া মাটির স্কুলের “পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া আগামীর স্কুল” শিশু শ্রেণীতে। যেখানে সৌভাগ্যবশত আমি আমার ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটিতে করা বেসলাইন সার্ভের অভিজ্ঞতা প্রথমে শেয়ার করার সুযোগ পাই। ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটিতে বেসলাইন সার্ভেতে অংশ নিয়েছিলাম আমরা ফ্যাসিলিটেটর দুইজন। তবে পাহাড়িয়াপাড়াতে গিয়ে আমি লক্ষ্য করলাম অন্যরকম প্রতিচ্ছবি তারা কমিউনিটির ২১ জন মানুষ মিলে গবেষণা টিম গঠন করেছে বেসলাইন সার্ভে করার জন্য। বিষয়টি আমার কাছে অনেক বেশি অনুপ্রেরনাদায়ক মনে হয়েছে। প্রথমে আমি আমার পরিচয় দেওয়ার পরে বেসলাইন সার্ভে টুলগুলো নিয়ে কথা বলেছি এবং কি ধরনের তথ্য কমিউনিটি থেকে সংগ্রহ করেছি সে বিষয়ে তাদেরকে জানানোর চেষ্টা করেছি। সংখ্যাগত তথ্য এবং গুনগত তথ্য নিয়ে আমি আমার অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করেছি। পাশাপাশি ইন্টারভিউ ও FGD ফোকাস গ্রুপ ডিসকাশনের প্রশ্নগুলো নিয়ে কথা বলেছি। কথা বলার সেই মুহূর্তে আমি যেন Grow Your Reader Foundation এ ফ্যাসিলিটেটর হিসেবে সদ্য জয়েন করা ২০২৪ সালের এক অন্য মনিরার প্রতিচ্ছবি মনে করছিলাম। কতকিছু করেছি আর শিখেছি যা চোখের সামনে এক ঝলকে চলে আসলো। কমিউনিটিতে গিয়ে সব পাড়াগুলো কিভাবে ঘুরে দেখেছি এবং কয়েকদিন সময় নিয়ে পুরো পাড়ার কিভাবে ম্যাপ তৈরি করেছি এবং প্রতিটি পাড়াকে আলাদা আলাদা ভাবে কিভাবে ম্যাপে একেঁছিলাম। ৪৮৮ টি বাড়ি থেকে প্রথমে ১৪২টি বাড়িতে বেসলাইন সার্ভে করেছিলাম। পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া কমিউনিটির মানুষ খুব মনোযোগ সহকারে আমার অভিজ্ঞতাগুলো শুনছিল এবং বিভিন্ন জায়গায় প্রশ্ন করছিল যেটা আমাকে অনেক বেশি আনন্দিত ও অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে এবং জানতে সাহায্য করেছিল।আলোচনা চলাকালীন সময়ে আমাদের সাথে অংশ নিয়েছিল আশীর্বাদ টিমের আবির ভাই, সুমিতা দিদি, মনিষা দিদি ও আশীর্বাদ কমিউনিটি থেকে আসা দিদিরা তারাও তাদের বেসলাইন সার্ভে করার যে অভিজ্ঞতা পাহাড়িয়াপাড়ার মানুষের সাথে শেয়ার করেছিল যেটা আরও বেশি কানেক্ট করতে সক্ষম হয়েছিল তারা। তবে আমার এখান থেকে নিজের ব্যক্তিগত অভিজ্ঞতা যেটা অর্জন হয়েছিল সেটা হল আমাদের ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটি থেকে পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া কমিউনিটির সার্ভেতে অনেক গভীরের চ্যালেঞ্জ বা সমস্যা উঠে আসবে বলে মনে হয়েছে।

• ২য় দিন সকাল ১১ টা:
  স্কোয়াড্রন লিডার -শাফায়াত মেমোরিয়াল লাইব্রেরির শুভ উদ্বোধন ও পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া আগামীর স্কুলের বার্ষিক পরীক্ষার ফলাফল বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল স্কুল প্রাঙ্গণে। শহীদ স্কোয়াড্রন লিডার শাফায়াত হোসেনের বাবা,মা ও ভাইয়ের উষ্ণ অভিবাদন ও পাহাড়িয়াপাড়া কমিউনিটির মা, চাচি, দাদা, দাদি, ছোট সোনামনি, শিক্ষকবৃন্দ এবং উপস্থিত সকলের অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে ছোট কোমলমতি শিক্ষার্থীদের সারিবদ্ধ অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে লাইব্রেরীর শুভ উদ্বোধন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। শিক্ষার্থীরা কিছু সময় লাইব্রেরীতে অবস্থান করেন এবং তারা বই পড়ায় মেতে ওঠেন। প্রথমে আমার চিন্তাধারা ছিল আসলে বাচ্চাগুলো মনে হয় রিডিং পড়তে পারেনা কিন্তু আমি সাদিয়া নামের এক ছোট্ট কোমলমতি শিক্ষার্থীর রিডিং পড়া দেখে নিজে বিমোহিত। এত সুন্দর করে সে মুরগি এবং তার বাচ্চাদের নিয়ে লেখা গল্পটি পড়ছিল সত্যিই প্রশংসনীয়। কিছুটা সময় লাইব্রেরীতে অবস্থান করার পরে শিক্ষার্থীরা আবার ফলাফল নেওয়ার জন্য স্কুলের রুমের বাইরে যে বসার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছিল সেখানে এসে অবস্থান করে এবং আমাদের গ্রো ইওর রিডার ফাউন্ডেশন এর দুই উজ্জ্বল তারকা সেলিম ভাই ও সুমন ভাইয়ের সুষ্ঠু সুন্দর পরিচালনায় শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের রেজাল্ট গ্রহন করে এবং অভিভাবকগন তাদেরকে এপ্রিশিয়েট করে। ফলাফল বিতরণের শেষে শিক্ষার্থীরা তাদের নিজেদের মতো করে কবিতা, ছড়া গান পরিবেশনের মাধ্যমে উপভোগ করতে থাকে নিজেদেরকে। কোনো এক ফাঁকে শাফায়াত সারোয়ারের আম্মার সাথে আমার ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটিতে SALT -অ্যাপ্রোচের মাধ্যমে কিভাবে কাজ করছি সেটা শেয়ার করি। এবং উনিও যখন কমিউনিটির মানুষদের সাথে কথা বলছিলেন তখন তাদের অনেক এপ্রিসিয়েট করেন।
  সারাংশ : গোপালগঞ্জ থেকে গিয়ে পাহাড়িয়াপাড়াতে কাটানো প্রতিটা মুহূর্ত ছিল অন্যরকম। সেখানে সাক্ষাৎ হয়েছিল এমন কিছু মানুষের সাথে যাদের কথা আসলে কখনো ভোলার নয়। গোটা মানুষগুলো পরিবারের মতই আমাদেরকে সাপোর্ট করেছে সর্বাত্মকভাবে। বিশেষ করে সুমন ভাই, সেলিম ভাই, রউফ ভাই, ফরহাদ ভাই, রাব্বানী ভাই,সুমন ভাইয়ের বাবা এবং মা। এরা সবাই বেশি ব্যস্ত ছিল আমাদের কখন কি লাগবে বা কিভাবে তারা আমাদের সাপোর্ট দিবে এই চিন্তায়।এছাড়াও কমিউনিটির আরো বেশ কিছু লোক ছিল যারা তাদের কমিউনিটিতে কি কি জিনিস আছে সেগুলো ঘুরে দেখানোর জন্য ব্যস্ত হয়ে উঠেছিল। এই যে নিজের এলাকা ছেড়ে অন্য জায়গাতে গিয়ে একদিনের পরিচয় মানুষের কাছ থেকে পাওয়া ভালোবাসাগুলো সত্যিকার অর্থে নিজেকে আরো অনেক বেশি মুগ্ধ করে তোলে। বারবার হাতছানি দেয় তাদের পানে। চাচির পরম যত্নে আতিথেয়তা, চাচার নজরদারি এ যেন আমারই আপনালয়। মাঝেমধ্যে ছিল আমার চা বানানো, নুডলস রান্না করা, পানি গরম করা এবং কোন একদিন রাতে সকলে মিলে একসাথে খিচুড়ি খাওয়ার আনন্দটা সেই অন্যরকম এক অনুভূতি। এছাড়া নিশ্চিন্তে আপুদের সাথে (সাদিয়া আপু, প্রিয়া আপু) ঘুমানোর যে একটা অনুভূতি। রেহানা আপার শারীরিক অসুস্থতা থাকা সত্ত্বেও স্কুলে আসা বাচ্চাদের টানে আমাকে অনেক উৎসাহ যুগিয়েছে। যাত্রাপথে আমার যে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ ছিল সেটা থেকে আমি অনেকটা বেরিয়ে আসতে পেরেছি এটাও এবার রিয়েলাইজ করতে পেরেছি। এখন আমার জার্নিতে তেমন কষ্ট হয় না তবে আমাতুল্লাহর কষ্টে আমার ভিষণ কষ্ট হয়েছে। সব মিলিয়ে চার দিনের ভ্রমণ বা অভিজ্ঞতায় আমার মন প্রফুল্ল সজিব এবং সতেজ হয়েছে।

The people of Pahariapara decided that they would conduct their own baseline survey. With that intention, on 21 December, a program related to the baseline survey was held in the pre-primary classroom of Pahariapara Mati School (Pahariapara Agamir School).
Fortunately, I had the opportunity to first share my experience of conducting a baseline survey in my Byaspur community. In Byaspur, only two of us worked as facilitators during the baseline survey. However, when I arrived in Pahariapara, I witnessed a very different picture—21 community members formed a research team together to conduct their own baseline survey. This felt deeply inspiring to me.
After introducing myself, I spoke about the baseline survey tools and tried to explain what types of information we had collected from the community. I shared my experiences with both quantitative and qualitative data, and also discussed interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) questions.
During that moment, I felt as if I was seeing a reflection of my younger self—Monira from 2024, who had just joined Grow Your Reader Foundation as a facilitator. Everything I had done and learned flashed before my eyes. I remembered how I had walked through every neighborhood in the community, spent several days mapping the entire area, and drawn each neighborhood separately on the map. Out of 488 households, we initially conducted baseline surveys in 142 households.
The people of the Pahariapara community listened very attentively to my experiences and asked questions at different points. This made me feel extremely happy, inspired, and also helped them understand the process better.
During the discussion, members from the Ashirbad team—Abir bhai, Sumita didi, Monisha didi, and other didis from the Ashirbad community—also joined us. They shared their own experiences of conducting baseline surveys, which helped create even deeper connections with the Pahariapara community.
One personal realization I took from this experience was that, compared to Byaspur, much deeper challenges and issues are likely to emerge from the Pahariapara community survey.

Day 2 | 11:00 AM
The inauguration of Squadron Leader Shafayat Memorial Library and the annual examination result distribution ceremony of Pahariapara Agamir School were held in the school premises.
The event took place with the warm presence and greetings of the parents and brother of Shaheed Squadron Leader Shafayat Hossain, along with the mothers, aunts, grandfathers, grandmothers, teachers, young children, and all members of the Pahariapara community. The library was officially inaugurated with the orderly participation of the small, tender-hearted students.
The students spent some time inside the library and became absorbed in reading books. Initially, I thought that perhaps the children might not be able to read fluently. But I was completely mesmerized by a little student named Sadia, who read aloud a story about a hen and her chicks so beautifully—it was truly praiseworthy.
After spending some time in the library, the students moved outside to the seating area arranged near the classrooms to receive their results. With the smooth and thoughtful facilitation of Grow Your Reader Foundation’s two bright stars, Selim bhai and Suman bhai, the students received their results, and parents appreciated and encouraged them.
After the result distribution, the children joyfully entertained themselves by reciting poems, rhymes, and singing in their own ways.
At one point, I had a conversation with Shafayat Sarwar’s mother, where I shared how we work in the Byaspur community using the SALT approach. When she later spoke with community members, she expressed deep appreciation for their efforts.

Summary
Every moment spent in Pahariapara after traveling from Gopalganj felt unique and special. I met people whose presence is truly unforgettable. The entire community supported us wholeheartedly, like a family.
In particular, Suman bhai, Selim bhai, Rauf bhai, Forhad bhai, Rabbani bhai, Suman bhai’s father and mother—all of them were constantly thinking about what we might need and how they could support us.
In addition, many other community members were eager to show us what resources and strengths existed within their community.
Leaving one’s own place and receiving such warmth and love from people known for just a single day in another place truly touches the heart and draws you back to them again and again.
The affectionate care of the aunts, the watchful concern of the uncles—it all felt like my own home. In between, there were moments of me making tea, cooking noodles, heating water, and one night when we all joyfully shared a meal of khichuri together—an unforgettable feeling.
There was also a deep sense of comfort in sleeping alongside the elder sisters (Sadia apu, Priya apu). Despite her physical illness, Rehana apa’s presence at school, driven by her love for the children, gave me immense motivation.
During this journey, I also realized that I have managed to overcome a major personal challenge related to travel. Traveling no longer feels as difficult for me, though seeing Amatullah’s hardship caused me deep pain.
Altogether, this four-day journey and experience left my mind refreshed, joyful, and deeply renewed.
