A life transformed by SALT. SALT-এর আলোয় বদলে যাওয়া একটি জীবন।

I am Sumita Bin, a proud facilitator at Ashirwad Organization. Every day I work with people in the community through the SALT process—listening to their life stories, finding strength, sharing dreams, and thinking together about how they can make positive changes in their lives. Every day is filled with new experiences, but one recent experience has deeply moved me. One woman’s story has touched my heart—Antara Bin. The way she transformed her life through the SALT process is not only inspiring, but also a living example of courage, confidence, and perseverance. A Simple Family, Extraordinary Struggle. Antara’s family is very simple. Her husband runs a small chutney shop. Their family relies on this meager income to survive. They have two children—a boy and a girl—who are in school. As a father, he tries his best to support his children’s education, but it becomes very difficult to manage everything on his own income. This reality has been very difficult for Antara.  As a mother, she wanted to do something for her children, but she couldn't figure out how. One day during a SALT conversation, Antara shared her thoughts with me. At that moment, I realized that this woman had an indomitable willpower, she just needed a little guidance, a little encouragement. I reminded her of her own capabilities and potential in the light of the SALT process. I told her about Geeta Goala—another struggling woman who learned to sew and brought about a big change in her life. I told Antara, “You can do it if you want to, you just have to make a decision.” I saw a glimmer of interest, hope, and courage in her eyes. A new journey began. With my encouragement, Antara agreed to learn to sew. I connected her with Poppy Apa, a trainer from the “Mati” NGO. Poppy Apa sincerely accepted her and held her hand and taught her every step of learning to sew. Antara had low confidence in the beginning, but gradually she started to change herself.  She attends classes regularly every day, studies attentively, and is filled with joy whenever she learns something new. After the training, Antara wants to put what she has learned into practice. She takes a loan of 10,000 taka from the Mati Cooperative and buys a sewing machine. That's when her real journey to becoming self-reliant begins. In the beginning, people in the community were reluctant to give her much work. But she didn't give up. By doing small jobs and delivering on time, she gradually gained trust. Within a few days, the demand for her work started to increase. Now Antara is earning regularly and she is able to pay for her children's education with her own earnings. Her husband is also very relieved. The SALT process has played an important role in this change in Antara's life. SALT is not just a method—it is a kind of humane and participatory philosophy that awakens the power, potential, and responsibility within people. Just as Antara has been able to recognize herself and create a path for herself, many people in the community are walking the path of transforming their lives through SALT.  A little light can break the darkness. Antara's story teaches us a great lesson—if we listen to someone with true respect and love, and find the strength within them, then anyone can change their life. SALT teaches us that none of us are alone, we all have something we can do to help ourselves and others. We hope that many more women like Antara will experience such transformation in their lives..   

আমি সুমিতা বিন, আশীর্বাদ অর্গানাইজেশনের একজন গর্বিত ফ্যাসিলেটর। আমি প্রতিদিন SALT প্রসেসের মাধ্যমে কমিউনিটিতে মানুষের সঙ্গে কাজ করি—তাদের জীবনের গল্প শুনি, শক্তি খুঁজি, স্বপ্নের কথা বলি, আর একসাথে ভাবি, কীভাবে তারা নিজেদের জীবনে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আনতে পারে। আমার প্রতিটি দিন নতুন অভিজ্ঞতায় ভরা, কিন্তু সম্প্রতি একটি অভিজ্ঞতা আমাকে গভীরভাবে নাড়া দিয়েছে। একজন নারীর গল্প আমার হৃদয় ছুঁয়ে গেছে—তিনি হলেন অন্তরা বিন। SALT প্রসেসের আলোয় তিনি যেভাবে নিজের জীবনকে বদলে দিয়েছেন, তা কেবল অনুপ্রেরণার নয়, বরং সাহস, আত্মবিশ্বাস ও ধৈর্যের এক জীবন্ত উদাহরণ। একটি সাধারণ সংসার, অসাধারণ সংগ্রাম। অন্তরার পরিবার খুব সাধারণ। তার স্বামী একটি ছোট্ট চটপটির দোকান চালান। এই সামান্য আয়ের ওপর নির্ভর করেই চলে তাদের সংসার। তাদের দুটি সন্তান রয়েছে—এক ছেলে ও এক মেয়ে—যারা স্কুলে পড়ে। বাবা হিসেবে সন্তানদের পড়াশোনার খরচ চালাতে প্রাণপণে চেষ্টা করেন, কিন্তু একার আয় দিয়ে সবকিছু সামাল দেওয়া খুব কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে। এই বাস্তবতা অন্তরাকে খুব কষ্ট দিত। একজন মা হিসেবে সে নিজের সন্তানদের জন্য কিছু করতে চাইলেও কীভাবে করবে তা বুঝে উঠতে পারছিল না। SALT কনভারসেশনের সময় একদিন অন্তরা তার মনের কথাগুলো আমার সঙ্গে ভাগ করে নেয়। সেই মুহূর্তে আমি বুঝে ফেলি, এই নারীর ভেতরে একটি অদম্য ইচ্ছাশক্তি আছে, শুধু দরকার একটু দিকনির্দেশনা, একটু উৎসাহ। আমি তাকে SALT প্রসেসের আলোকে নিজের সক্ষমতা ও সম্ভাবনার কথা মনে করিয়ে দিই। আমি তাকে গীতা গোয়ালার কথা বলি—আরেকজন সংগ্রামী নারী যিনি সেলাই শেখে নিজের জীবনে বড় পরিবর্তন এনেছেন। আমি অন্তরাকে বলি, “তুমি চাইলেই পারবে, শুধু একটা সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে।” তার চোখে আমি আগ্রহ, আশা আর সাহসের ঝিলিক দেখতে পাই। শুরু হলো নতুন যাত্রা। আমার উৎসাহে অন্তরা রাজি হয়ে যায় সেলাই শেখার জন্য। আমি তাকে “মাটি” এনজিও’র প্রশিক্ষক পপি আপার সঙ্গে যুক্ত করে দিই। পপি আপা আন্তরিকভাবে তাকে গ্রহণ করেন এবং সেলাই শেখার প্রতিটি ধাপে তাকে হাতে ধরে শেখান। প্রথমদিকে অন্তরার আত্মবিশ্বাস কম ছিল, কিন্তু ধীরে ধীরে সে নিজেকে বদলে নিতে শুরু করে। প্রতিদিন নিয়মিত ক্লাসে অংশ নেয়, মনোযোগ দিয়ে শেখে, আর নতুন কিছু শিখলেই আনন্দে উজ্জ্বল হয়ে ওঠে। প্রশিক্ষণ শেষে অন্তরা তার শেখা কাজে লাগাতে চায়। সে মাটি সমবায় থেকে ১০,০০০ টাকা ঋণ নিয়ে একটি সেলাই মেশিন কিনে ফেলে। তখন থেকেই শুরু হয় তার স্বাবলম্বী হওয়ার বাস্তব পথচলা। শুরুর দিকে কমিউনিটির মানুষজন তেমন কাজ দিতে চাইত না। কিন্তু সে হাল ছাড়েনি। ছোট ছোট কাজ করে, সময়মতো ডেলিভারি দিয়ে সে ধীরে ধীরে আস্থা অর্জন করে। কিছুদিনের মধ্যেই তার কাজের চাহিদা বাড়তে শুরু করে। এখন অন্তরা নিয়মিত আয় করছে এবং সে তার সন্তানদের লেখাপড়ার খরচ চালাতে পারছে নিজের উপার্জনে। তার স্বামীও অনেকটা স্বস্তি পেয়েছে।  অন্তরার জীবনের এই বদলে যাওয়ার পেছনে SALT প্রসেসের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রয়েছে। SALT মানে শুধু একটা পদ্ধতি নয়—এটা হলো এক ধরণের মানবিক ও অংশগ্রহণমূলক দর্শন, যা মানুষের ভেতরের শক্তি, সম্ভাবনা ও দায়বদ্ধতাকে জাগিয়ে তোলে। অন্তরা যেমন নিজেকে চিনতে পেরেছে, নিজের জন্য একটা পথ তৈরি করতে পেরেছে, তেমনি SALT-এর মাধ্যমে কমিউনিটির অনেক মানুষ নিজেদের জীবনের রূপান্তরের পথে হাঁটছে। একটুকু আলোই পারে অন্ধকার ভাঙতে। অন্তরার গল্প আমাদের একটা বড় শিক্ষা দেয়—যদি আমরা কাউকে সত্যিকারের শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসা দিয়ে শুনি, তার ভেতরের শক্তি খুঁজে বের করি, তাহলে যে কেউ নিজের জীবনের পরিবর্তন ঘটাতে পারে।

SALT আমাদের শেখায়, আমরা কেউই একা নই, আমাদের সবারই কিছু না কিছু আছে যা দিয়ে আমরা নিজেদের এবং অন্যদের সাহায্য করতে পারি। অন্তরার মতো আরও অনেক নারীর জীবনে এমন রূপান্তর ঘটুক—এই আমাদের কামনা।
