I am Sumita Bin. As a facilitator of the Ashirbad Organization, I regularly listen to and know the stories of people's lives through the SALT process in the community, and try to encourage them. However, recently, I spoke to Sambhu Sarkar in the Charbin Para community, and his story inspired me anew. Sambhu Sarkar is 80 years old. He used to work, but for the past five years, he has been living a retired life. He has four daughters and a son. The daughters are married, they are in separate families. Now Sambhu Sarkar, his wife and his only son were at home. However, life was not easy for them. Sambhu Sarkar's son used to be a businessman. Suddenly, his business suffered a huge loss. He was burdened with a lot of debt. At one point, he ran away from home, unable to bear the burden of that debt. Due to his son's sudden escape, Sambhu Sarkar's family became completely unemployed. The family was in despair, wondering how to continue. They managed to survive for a few months by selling household items, and then the real crisis began. Meanwhile, Sambhu Sarkar became seriously ill. The doctor advised surgery. He had a tube inserted in his urethra; he had to live with this pain constantly. Even in such difficult times, Sambhu's wife did not give up. She started picking flowers from their garden and selling them in the market. I came to know about this during the SALT Conversation, when I was talking to Sambhu Sarkar's wife. Later, I also talked to Sambhu Sarkar. I felt very bad to hear about his illness. However, at one point I told him, "There is a lot of empty space in your yard. You can grow vegetables and flower plants there. You will also earn some income from it." He became optimistic at my words. He started thinking about life anew. For the first time in a long time, Sambhu Sarkar went to his yard and started working. Despite his age and ill health, he planted various vegetable plants and flower plants in the garden. His wife also stood by him in this initiative. Now they wake up at 4 am every morning, collect fresh flowers and vegetables from the garden, and sell them at the local riverside market by 6 am. This has started a new flow of money in their family. On the one hand, new hope has been born in Sambhu's mind, on the other hand, his wife has also regained her strength to live. Today, Sambhu Sarkar is an example. Age, illness, or poverty could not stop him. The small change that began in his life through the SALT process has changed the course of his entire family's life today. His story proves that if you start any work with patience and optimism, it will bring success. I am proud that I have been able to stand by the side of a brave person like Sambhu Sarkar. SALT is not just about improving relationships, it is an extraordinary method of changing people's lives. Sambhu Sarkar's story teaches us that even when difficult times come, you cannot give up. With effort, patience, and the right guidance, life can turn around.
আমি সুমিতা বিন। আশীর্বাদ অর্গানাইজেশন এর একজন ফেসিলেটর হিসেবে নিয়মিতভাবে কমিউনিটিতে SALT প্রসেসের মাধ্যমে মানুষের জীবনের গল্প শুনি, জানি এবং তাদের উৎসাহিত করার চেষ্টা করি। তবে সম্প্রতি চরবিন পাড়া কমিউনিটিতে সম্ভু সরকারের সঙ্গে আমার কথা হলো হলো, তার গল্প আমাকে নতুন করে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে। সম্ভু সরকারের বয়স ৮০ বছর। এক সময় তিনি চাকরি করতেন, তবে গত পাঁচ বছর ধরে তিনি অবসর জীবন কাটাচ্ছেন। তার চার মেয়ে এবং এক ছেলে। মেয়েদের বিয়ে হয়ে গেছে, তারা আলাদা সংসারে। বাড়িতে এখন সম্ভু সরকার, তার স্ত্রী এবং একমাত্র ছেলে ছিলেন। তবে জীবন তাদের জন্য সহজ ছিল না। সম্ভু সরকারের ছেলে একসময় ব্যবসা করতেন। হঠাৎ তার ব্যবসায় বড় ধরনের লোকসান হয়। অনেক ঋণের বোঝা চাপে তার ঘাড়ে। একসময় সেই ঋণের ভার বইতে না পেরে সে বাড়ি ছেড়ে পালিয়ে যায়। ছেলের এই হঠাৎ পলায়নে সম্ভু সরকারের পরিবার সম্পূর্ণ রোজগারহীন হয়ে পড়ে। কীভাবে চলবে, এই চিন্তায় হতাশায় ডুবে যায় পরিবারটি। ঘরের জিনিসপত্র বিক্রি করে কোনোরকমে কয়েক মাস চলে, এরপর শুরু হয় প্রকৃত সংকটের সময়। এর মধ্যেই সম্ভু সরকার শারীরিকভাবে গুরুতর অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। ডাক্তার অপারেশনের পরামর্শ দেন। তার মূত্রনালীতে নল লাগানো রয়েছে; প্রতিনিয়ত এই যন্ত্রণা সঙ্গী করে থাকতে হয় তাকে। এমন কঠিন সময়েও সম্ভুর স্ত্রী হাল ছাড়েননি। তিনি তাদের বাগানের ফুল তুলে বাজারে বিক্রি করতে শুরু করেন। আমি এই বিষয়টি জানতে পারি SALT কনভারসেশনের সময়, যখন আমি সম্ভু সরকারের স্ত্রী’র সঙ্গে কথা বলছিলাম। পরবর্তীতে সম্ভু সরকারের সঙ্গেও কথা হয় আমার। তার অসুস্থতার কষ্টের কথা শুনে খুব খারাপ লেগেছিল। তবে এক সময় আমি তাকে বললাম “আপনার বাড়ির আঙিনায় তো অনেক জায়গা ফাঁকা রয়েছে। সেখানে সবজি চাষ ও ফুলের গাছ লাগাতে পারেন। এতে কিছু উপার্জনও হবে।” আমার কথায় তিনি আশাবাদী হলেন। নতুন করে ভাবা শুরু করলেন জীবনকে। দীর্ঘ সময় পর সম্ভবত প্রথমবারের মতো সম্ভু সরকার নিজের আঙিনায় গিয়ে কাজ শুরু করলেন। বয়সের ভার ও অসুস্থ শরীর নিয়েও তিনি বাগানে বিভিন্ন সবজির গাছ ও ফুলের গাছ লাগালেন। তার স্ত্রী-ও তার এই উদ্যোগে পাশে দাঁড়ালেন। এখন তারা প্রতিদিন ভোর ৪টায় ঘুম থেকে ওঠেন, বাগান থেকে তাজা ফুল ও সবজি সংগ্রহ করেন এবং সকাল ৬টার মধ্যেই সেগুলি স্থানীয় নদীর ধারের বাজারে নিয়ে বিক্রি করেন। এতে তাদের সংসারে নতুনভাবে অর্থ প্রবাহ শুরু হয়েছে। একদিকে সম্ভুর মনেও নতুন আশার জন্ম নিয়েছে, অন্যদিকে তার স্ত্রী-ও যেন ফিরে পেয়েছেন বাঁচার শক্তি। আজ সম্ভু সরকার একজন উদাহরণ। বয়স, অসুস্থতা কিংবা দারিদ্র্যতা তাকে থামিয়ে রাখতে পারেনি। SALT প্রসেসের মাধ্যমে তার জীবনে যে ছোট্ট পরিবর্তনের সূচনা হয়েছিল, তা আজ তার পুরো পরিবারের জীবনের গতিপথ বদলে দিয়েছে। তার গল্প প্রমাণ করে, ধৈর্য ও আশাবাদের সঙ্গে যে কোনো কাজ শুরু করলে তা সফলতা আনবেই। আমি গর্বিত যে সম্ভু সরকারের মতো সাহসী মানুষের পাশে আমি দাঁড়াতে পেরেছি। SALT শুধু সম্পর্কের উন্নয়ন নয়, এটি মানুষের জীবন পাল্টে দেওয়ার এক অসাধারণ পদ্ধতি। সম্ভু সরকারের গল্প আমাদের শিখিয়ে দেয়, কঠিন সময় এলেও হার মানা যাবে না। চেষ্টা, ধৈর্য আর সঠিক দিকনির্দেশনায় জীবনের মোড় ঘুরে যেতেই পারে।
