Today, Institute of Applied Manpower Research invited me to facilitate a session of Community life competence and SALT with a group of government officers from Jammu and Kashmir. The participants found it very hard to answer the question- what are you proud of? If you ask us what are your failures are it is very easy to answer. We are not used to this question. Concluding remark was that if one is appreciated one is more likely to take action!
Here is the action plan on how they will apply SALT in their work
S- We will stimulate the illiterate communities to seek education by not teaching but by stimulating them through sharing our experiences; how education has helped us and others
A- Appreciate the good work by our subordinates especially the unoticed contributions, will help them realize their strengths to encounter the challenges they face and will encourage them to work for community welfare
L- We will understand the depth of problems of the public by listening to them when they come to meet us in the officeWill give patient hearing to our subordinates by listening to them deeply
T- We can transfer our experiences and learning from the community to higher authorities
Will transfer our experiences with the juniors
