FAMILY THERAPY is crucial to the survival of Persons Living with HIV/AIDS

One year ago I started to 'Counsel' a Patient who had 'Suicidal Ideation' owing to her HIV status; she did not want to live and did everything possible to communicate her message of 'wanting to die'; however, I won't give up on her and I prayed with her using Psalm 23, 27, 51, 91 and 103! She was encouraged to listen to her 'favourite Gospel Music', to change her linens, Curtains and to even get scented Candles (Aromatherapy). Recognising the importance of FAMILY SUPPORT, I called her children who supported their Mother through her DEPRESSION and today one year later this Patient is 'full of life' and very happy surrounded by her Children who continues to provide critical 'FAMILY THERAPY'! Today her Eldest Child returned to Guyana just to be with her Mother after learning that her Mother almost committed Suicide! I pray that FAMILIES will support their Family members who are HIV infected because this 'FAMILY SUPPORT' is crucial to the Patient's Welfare!
