I was once asked to undertake field visits for the assessment of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). This was needed in order to make decision for funding them. I visited a number of NGOs, tried to know about their work and interacted with their staff. I was shown a number of documents, progress reports and photographs of the work done by them. I wondered if it is was necessary to have so many photographs which captured mainly the ‘important people’ at the events organized by…

Dear Afsar,

Greetings from cool, rainy Delhi!

Thanks for your words of encouragement. ILO in India has done fantastic work with truckers. ILO's best practices booklet is a testimony to it. What I really liked was not only the work which you and your team did but how you did it. Instead of merely hiring consultants, ILO team was involved in the entire project from training to documentation.

Hope you can join India and Kenya group and share your experience with us. We are sending some material to the Kenya team. I would love to include the booklet in the package.

Hope you are well settled in Geneva.

Warm regards,

Rituu

How is life in Geneva? How was moving there? Are you enjoying it?

BTW I loved your story of the hot chocolate on your blog :-) Do you also write stories about communities responding to life challenges? Or people discovering their strengths and potential?

Sharing Experiences: In the blogs we are sharing our experiences with local responses and the competence process. These experiences and stories do not require a discussion or exchange, but comments are welcome! Some stories in the blog link directly to our knowledge asset (see tab knowledge asset).I am sure your experience will be useful to others!

Learning Together: Our Forum is the place where we learn together. If you want to discuss an element of the Competence process, or other issues related to local responses, please contribute to the forum.
