Recently, in a candid conversation with a friend, I asked him a question that caught him off guard: "What makes you feel proud?" His immediate response was that pride seemed like too high an emotion to truly experience. Intrigued, I followed up with another question: "Can you recall any incidents from your past that brought you happiness?" Although he hesitated at first, he eventually opened up, sharing a few instances where his work had taken him around the world, offering him a lot of exposure and experiences.
I continued to probe, asking him about what he considered his strengths. Initially, he mentioned how he approached decision-making in a methodical manner. However, after some introspection, he corrected himself, highlighting that all the major events in his life that evoked a sense of achievement were actually the result of instinctual, gut decisions.
This conversation with my friend felt like he and I had gone on a journey, understanding what his thought process was like trying to recognize & understand what his strengths were. In a recent SALT session with Rituu B. Nanda I had the opportunity to visualize my experience. :)
