Festivals to convey messages to other community members

A young man from Nandwal village created a display during this year’s Ganesh festival that delivered a meaningful message to everyone.

Sameer Patil, a 23-year-old youth, is both a farmer and a businessman. Along with managing his family responsibilities, he is known for expressing thoughtful and well-informed opinions on various issues concerning the youth in the village.

The Ganesh festival holds great importance in India, showcasing unity and tradition in a beautiful way.

While working in Nandwal, a few cases of suicide had occurred in the village, most of them involving young people. In response, a research team in the village conducted a study on the concept of a “Joyful Village” (Anandmay Gaav). After the findings of this research were shared with the community, there were no further cases of suicide in the village.

During this year’s Ganesh festival, Sameer created a home decoration display based on the theme of the Joyful Village. His display depicted scenes from earlier times — beautiful houses, people, small businesses — and, on the other side, used short slogans to raise awareness about expressing emotions.

Many villagers visited his display and took time to understand its message. It was a beautiful and heart-touching creation that will surely sow the seeds of reflection and renewed energy among the people.
