নিজের শক্তিতে এগিয়ে যাওয়া: আখির শিখন ও ভাগাভাগি

পেঁচাকোলা কমিউনিটির আখি খাতুন একজন অষ্টম শ্রেণীর ছাত্রী।তিন বোন ও এক ভাইয়ের মধ্যে সবার ছোট। আখির বাবা একজন ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ী। তার বড় তিন ভাইবোনের বিয়ে হয়ে গেছে।
হঠাৎ একদিন আখির বাবা একটি দুর্ঘটনায় আহত হন। দুর্ঘটনায় তার দুটো পা ভেঙে যায়। এর ফলে পরিবারের আয়ের পথ বন্ধ হয়ে যায় এবং সংসারে অভাব-অনটন নেমে আসে। এই কঠিন পরিস্থিতিতে আখি নিজের পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য মনে মনে শক্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়।
আখি দেখে তার ভাবি কুশিকাটার কাজ জানে। তখন সে ভাবে, সেও যদি এই কাজ শিখতে পারে তাহলে নিজের খরচ নিজেই চালাতে পারবে। এরপর আখি ভাবির কাছ থেকে কুশিকাটার কাজ শেখা শুরু করে। কাজ শিখেই সে থেমে থাকেনি। এখন সে প্রতি সপ্তাহে দুই ডজন করে গোসল করার খসা তৈরি করে এবং সেগুলো বাজারে বিক্রি করে। এই আয় দিয়ে সে তার ব্যক্তিগত চাহিদা পূরণ করছে।
আখির সাথে কথা বলে এসব বিষয় জানা যায়। শুধু তাই নয়, আখি আমাদের পেঁচাকোলা কমিউনিটির পদ্মা গ্রুপে একজন নতুন সদস্য হিসেবে যুক্ত হয়। সে একা নয়, তার প্রতিবেশী ও সহপাঠীদেরও সঙ্গে নিয়ে পদ্মা গ্রুপে যোগ দেয়। গ্রুপের সাথে আলোচনা করে তাদের ভেতরের শক্তি ও ভাবনাগুলো জানা হয়। এরপর করা হয় ড্রিম বিল্ডিং।
ড্রিম অনুযায়ী পদ্মা গ্রুপে নতুন করে অ্যাকশন প্ল্যান তৈরি করা হয়। সেখানে তাদের কমিউনিটির উন্নয়ন নিয়ে নানা ভাবনা উঠে আসে। এই আলোচনার সময় আখি তার মতামত জানায়। সে বলে—

“আমি যে সমস্যায় পড়েছিলাম, অন্যরাও যে কোনো সময় সেই সমস্যায় পড়তে পারে। তাই আমাদের লেখাপড়ার পাশাপাশি কাজের দক্ষতা বাড়ানো দরকার।”
আখি প্রস্তাব দেয়, সে কাজ করবে এবং অন্যদের সেই কাজ শেখাবে। তার এই প্রস্তাব সবাই খুব ভালোভাবে গ্রহণ করে। বর্তমানে আখি তিনজনকে কুশিকাটার কাজ শেখাচ্ছে। তারা খুব আগ্রহের সাথে কাজ শিখছে, আখির মতো নিজের পায়ে দাঁড়ানোর স্বপ্ন নিয়ে।

Akhi Khatun of Pechakola community is an eighth grade student. She is the youngest of three sisters and one brother. Akhi's father is a small businessman. Her three elder siblings are married.
Suddenly one day, Akhi's father was injured in an accident. Both his legs were broken in the accident. As a result, the family's income was cut off and poverty descended on the family. In this difficult situation, Akhi made a strong decision in her heart to continue her studies.
Seeing that her sister-in-law knew how to make kushikata, Akhi thought that if she could learn this craft, she would be able to manage her own expenses. After that, Akhi started learning kushikata from her sister-in-law. She did not stop after learning the craft. Now she makes two dozen bath mats every week and sells them in the market. With this income, she fulfills her personal needs.
These things can be learned by talking to Akhi. Not only that, Akhi joined our Pechakola community's Padma group as a new member. He joined the Padma Group not alone, but with his neighbors and classmates. After discussing with the group, their inner strength and thoughts were known. Then, dream building was done.
According to the dream, a new action plan was made in the Padma Group. There, various ideas about the development of their community came up. During this discussion, Akhi expressed his opinion. He said—
“The problem I faced, others can also face that problem at any time. Therefore, we need to improve our work skills along with our studies.”
Akhi proposed that he would work and teach others that work. Everyone accepted his proposal very well. Currently, Akhi is teaching three people the work of a carpenter. They are learning the work with great interest, with the dream of standing on their own feet like Akhi.
