I want to change my children's future…

I could not go to Vashi village for some days because of the research work in Nandwal village. Today I visited Vashi village after few days. There are successful and unsuccessful experiences with SALT. I had a different experience today.Visited a family in Vashi village. They had grandmother, mother and a little girl at home. At first we got to know each other. A short chat followed before starting SALT. It turns out that they are very fond of cooking. While the discussion was going on, the lady came from the kitchen and placed the dishes in front of us. and urged us to eat. She said that we do not turn back everyone who comes to the house without giving them something to eat. Without taking much time, Aaji started narrating her experiences.

They have two daughters and one son. She told an incident that happened in her life. Food was cooked only after eaning each day. The father earned mere Rs 2 per day  in the fields . We spent our childhood in such conditions. And in such a situation, the girl completed her education upto 10th standard. 

I got my daughter married after her 10th without completing her education, without asking her. But now her family is facing a lot of problems. Because their thoughts are not compatible. I am very sad that I could not ask her about her dream. Now I want to help her daughters follow their dreams.Now our home situation is good. At that time, when anyone from the village came to our house, I could not even ask them for tea. Because at that time there was no money to bring milk and sugar. Therefore, I offer to those who come to eat various dishes made by my own hands.

• The man of the house should be present in such discussions. They should know all these things.

Learning as a facilitator- One thing I learned is that everyone has power. But it is important to make them aware of it. And as facilitators, we are giving them the knowledge that they can think for themselves and try for themselves. Something I learned as a facilitator is that the solutions to family problems lie with the people. But they should be made aware of it. It is important to talk to them with love and guide them properly.
