My storytelling story

It is very interesting and inspiring for me how Storytelling has become a trending topic within The Constellation community at different levels.

I discovered Storytelling some 20 years ago when I was trying to build confidence in myself and also to different women's groups around me (in particular, HIV+ women).

I had never thought of the importance of the stories my dad used to tell me when I was a child, but then, all of a sudden, as important things usually come into our…

Thinking of gender

Hi friends, it's been a long time since I do not share with you in this platform, but these days I came to think about how we are looking as SALT practitioners at this issue, gender, that is in everybody's agenda recently. Are we really paying enough attention or, if enough, in the right perspective?

When I came in touch with The Constellation, my main work within the response to HIV was focused on gender inequality, on how women were affected by the virus to a greater extent than…

Sharing PAR field experiences book

Dear all,

I am in the process of translating a book which I am really enjoying and I would like to share it with you. It is about Participative Action Research, about co-creation of knowledge and how to learn from the process.

I think that it has a lot to do with our core beliefs in The Constellation and I am sure it might be of help for many of you who explore how research can be done from the actions we undertake.…

Curiosity killed the cat

There is something interesting related with our capacity to express curiosity. In my culture, curiosity has been considered a tendency that needed to be controlled, specially among women. Still today it is considered as an intrusion into other people's lives, and a behaviour to be avoided for a good social interaction.

I haven't thought very much about it until I went to visit this small community affected by the tsunami in the region of Tamil Nadu, India. And curiosity is what…

The contentment of appreciation

I am in Prague waiting my connection flight to Barcelona and I wanted to share with you the feeling of excitement that still bathes me. It still persists a sense of joy and contentment that usually starts with the openness that propitiates dialogue, and a stimulating sensation that starts when I prepare for listening and persists in time every time I review what actually happens there.

I know about the power of appreciation through my own experience. I have learnt much about…

удовлетворенность признательностью/The contentment of appreciation

Invitation to share your stories

Inviting you to share your stories through the SALT STORY INITIATIVE:

Whether we are new to SALT, or we've been facilitating for years, we all have a story to tell about how SALT has inspired us. It is this inspiration which enables us to become a channel for energy, and a catalyst for positive change.

For years, Constellation members have been sharing their stories through NING, providing other facilitators around the world with a window into…

Disclosure- a turning point in my life

One of the tools I have been using to work towards "normalization" of HIV is disclosure. I have come out with my HIV+ status to show those who considered HIV as pertaining to excluded populations that HIV can come into anyone's life.

I got the impression that people around could not see HIV as related with 'normal people'. So I decided to go public so that I could show others that it could happen to anybody, it was among us in our communities. I think that the use of that tool… Continue

More on storytelling

On May 11th, the book and DVD 'Healing through our stories: women constructing HIV historic memory' has been presented to the public in Barcelona, Spain, and I am very happy to say that it has been very well received and it has started to live an independent life.

Before the public presentation, we had a 2 days meeting with the participants to have their feedback before anybody else's and to involve them in the presentation. That workshop was one of the most satisfactory events I… Continue

The Storytelling in people lives

To some of you I have talked about a project I have put in place 8 months ago with a couple of coleagues. The title of the project is "Healing through our stories: women constructing the historial memory of HIV" and it is about the storytelling, about the capacity we all have to tell our own stories and the healing power of those stories.

It is 10 year now I have started to use folck and fairy tales as a starting point to a deeper reflection on who we are and how we relate to others.… Continue

Developments in 2008

I want to share with you what I see as core developments of the Constellation in the past year. I have been following the progress of the Constellation from the distance and I could see during the SALT visits and the Board Meeting in September that it is becoming a mature movement. I feel really proud of being part of this growing group of people working together for a better world and happier communities.

And thank you to Laurence for being such a "SALTy"… Continue
