The dream of The Constellation is to create a conversation between communities on local response. Ning, our virtual platform, enables a conversation between members of communities from around the world. We share stories and experiences of our community so that it can be useful to others. As all communities do not yet have access to Internet, facilitators make the link: they write and read about local responses and share them with their community and communities they visit.

As a facilitator, do you have a local response favourite story that you share during learning events, SALT visits or other activities with your community?

I look forward to reading your story on Ning, or if you prefer I will gladly listen to it on Skype. In that case, please contact me via the Newsletter’s address. Please also tell us if this story is already available on Ning?

Hi Marie,

Great initiative. Thank you. Here are two of the stories on Ning which I share. Why I share because I have been involved in this change and I have a personal relation with the story.

The first story is how community life competence can supplement the traditional targeted intervention approach very prevalent in public health. This story is very relevant for people who work in the conventional setting and can see how the approach can help in their work.  http://aidscompetence.ning.com/profiles/blogs/how-acp-strengthened-...

This is a story of a personal change in a drug user. I met Thangin who was part of the SALT facilitation team and I was personally very inspired by his story.

Look forward to rich stories from other facilitators and coaches.

Cheers,
Rituu

One of the stories I often tell is the one of the Ban Pang Lao community in Thaïland; how members of the community took shifts to guard the entries to the village from drug dealers. The community has developed numerous projects as you can read in Amber’s blog: People know best how to solve own issues: Ban Pang La....

The other story is the story of people in Papua New Guinea, who transformed their community from a violent place with lots of alcohol/drug use to a calm place where the mothers now sleep quietly at night. Papua New Guinea: their pride, their passion, their story A video b.... In 2011, Gaston has met again Eli, from Mount Hagen: he told Gaston that members of the community are still using their strengths…
