Last week, our CWSN team of 10 members went to Mattikhan Mountain View Resort for a two-day program. The visit provided us with a great opportunity for both learning and refreshment in a peaceful environment. Since the resort is located at a higher altitude, we were able to enjoy a beautiful 360-degree view of Pokhara, which was one of the highlights of the trip.
The main objective of our visit was to review and revise the Safeguarding Policy of CWSN. Before attending this training , I had a basic understanding of safeguarding. However, after participating in the discussions and sessions, I was able to gain a much deeper understanding of the concept. I was already familiar with some aspects of safeguarding, but this training helped me understand its importance in greater detail.
During the sessions, we learned about the history of the safeguarding policy, when it was first developed, and how many times it has been revised. We also became familiar with both the existing CWSN safeguarding policy format and the GFC safeguarding policy format. The facilitators explained the various risks and challenges that may arise while implementing projects and how we can effectively identify, manage, and mitigate those risks. One of the most valuable lessons for me was learning about the reporting mechanism. I knew that a reporting mechanism existed within the organization, but I did not fully understand how it worked. Through this session, I learned the proper procedures for reporting safeguarding concerns, the actions that should be taken when a safeguarding issue arises, and the appropriate persons or channels to whom such concerns should be reported.
Overall, the training was highly informative and helped strengthen my understanding of safeguarding policies, risk management, and reporting procedures. Thanks to CWSN and ARC program for providing this opportunity to learn about safeguarding.
Comment
this was the good opportunity for the team CWSN to know about the existing safeguarding policy and the issues related to the different projects.
It was a truly weekend filled with both relaxation and valuable insights.
