Today, during a SALT session held in the Nichhe Line area Bhatpara Tea Garden, I had an inspiring conversation with 14-year-old Sabit Kharia bhai. He shared his story of pride: A few days ago, Sabit's 70-year-old grandfather needed to sew clothes but couldn't thread the needle. When Sabit learned that the grandfather was struggling to thread the needle, he helped him, which he considers his story of pride.
This story of pride brings out many of Sabit bhai's strong qualities, which reflect the spirit of the SALT session (Stimulate, Appreciate, Listen, Transfer).
Sabit bhai's strong qualities:
*Empathy and helping spirit* : Even at such a young age, he understood the elderly grandfather's difficulty and stepped forward to help immediately, which strengthens the culture of care in the community.
*Responsibility and initiative:* As a teenager, he became active as soon as he saw the problem, showing the potential for contribution at every age.
*As a facilitator, what I learned from him* :
*Small helps build big strengths* : Turning something small like threading a needle into a story of pride teaches us to stimulate (Stimulate) youth in SALT sessions so they transform daily small challenges into collective strength.
*Leadership at every age:* A 14-year-old child can also become a 'hero' of the community, inspiring us to include everyone.
When Sabit bhai was asked about his thoughts on the community, he said that if everyone extends a helping hand, every difficulty will become easy, no matter how big it is.
*AER* :
*What went well in today's conversation and why?*
Sabit bhai felt happy and encouraged by sharing his story.
*What could have been done better during the conversation?*
It would have been good if I had shared each other's strengths with some more friends.
