Human Stories, Human Power: Knowledge Fair of Byaspur Community | মানুষের গল্প, মানুষের শক্তি: ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটির নলেজ ফেয়ার

On December 15, 2025 we were very happy and excited to go to Byaspur Community in Gopalganj to participate in the Grow Your Reader Foundation Community Knowledge Fair. From Bangladesh Rural Economic Development (BRED) Organization, I, Ashiq Bhai, Humaira Apa and Rowshan Apa started our journey at 5 am.

 

After a journey of about five hours, we reached Gopalganj. The railway station amidst the green fields and natural environment around was giving peace and warmth to our minds. Upon reaching there, we entered the knowledge fair and saw the people of the community sharing their stories, initiatives and learning experiences with courage.

 

The most powerful aspect of this knowledge fair was that there were no lectures here. There were stories of changes that came through life. People spoke in their own language, from their own experiences. And those stories became the greatest medium of learning.

 We were particularly touched by the initiative of Apsana Apa and her team from the Hijlipara community. The way they organize story sessions with grandparents is not just entertainment, it is a powerful way to pass on knowledge, values ​​and human connection from generation to generation. These story sessions keep children connected to their roots and strengthen the bond between family and community.

Another inspiring aspect was how the women of the community are ensuring their families’ nutrition through vegetable cultivation and are gradually moving towards self-reliance. The dream sharing session by Shahana Apa and her team showed us that dreaming and sharing that dream with others is the first step to change. There was courage in their eyes, faith in their voices that these dreams will one day come true.

 

The entire atmosphere of the Knowledge Fair was vibrant and inclusive. With dance, story sessions, discussions between the athletes and the Masculinity team, and experience sharing at the cohort level, it was a living learning space.  The discussions on masculinity in particular conveyed important messages about gender equality, responsible behavior, and the positive role of men in the community.

What I liked most was that the entire event was made successful by the community itself. Starting from the organization of the Pitha Puli, their active participation in every activity was clearly visible. There was no external pressure or direction, there was only one's own initiative, one's own sense of responsibility.

The biggest lesson we learned from this knowledge fair is that change can never be imposed from the outside. When people tell their stories, share their experiences, and dreams, the seeds of real change are planted. We want to spread these lessons to our community as well.

গত, ১৫ ডিসেম্বর, আমরা খুব আনন্দিত ও উচ্ছ্বসিত ছিলাম গোপালগঞ্জের ব্যাসপুর কমিউনিটিতে গিয়ে GYRF কমিউনিটির নলেজ ফেয়ারে অংশ নেওয়ার জন্য। BRED Organization থেকে আমি, আশিক ভাই, হুমাইরা আপা এবং রওশন আপা ভোর ৫টায় যাত্রা শুরু করি।

 

প্রায় পাচঁ ঘণ্টার যাত্রার পর আমরা গোপালগঞ্জ পৌঁছাই। চারপাশের সবুজ ক্ষেত্র, প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশ মাঝে রেল ষ্টেশন আমাদের মনকে প্রশান্তি ও উষ্ণতা দিচ্ছিল। সেখানে পৌঁছে আমরা নলেজ ফেয়ারে প্রবেশ করি এবং দেখি কমিউনিটির মানুষ তাদের গল্প, উদ্যোগ ও শেখার অভিজ্ঞতা সাহসের সঙ্গে শেয়ার করছে।

 

এই নলেজ ফেয়ারের সবচেয়ে শক্তিশালী দিক ছিল এখানে কোনো লেকচার ছিল না। ছিল জীবনের ভেতর দিয়ে আসা পরিবর্তনের গল্প। মানুষ নিজের ভাষায়, নিজের অভিজ্ঞতা থেকে কথা বলেছে। আর সেই গল্পগুলোই হয়ে উঠেছে শেখার সবচেয়ে বড় মাধ্যম।

 

বিশেষভাবে আমাদেরকে  স্পর্শ করেছে হিজলীপাড়া কমিউনিটির আপসানা আপা ও তাঁর টিমের উদ্যোগ। তারা যেভাবে দাদা-দাদিদের নিয়ে গল্পের আসর বসান, সেটি কেবল বিনোদন নয় এটি প্রজন্ম থেকে প্রজন্মে জ্ঞান, মূল্যবোধ ও মানবিক সংযোগ পৌঁছে দেওয়ার একটি শক্তিশালী পদ্ধতি। এই গল্পের আসর শিশুদের শিকড়ের সঙ্গে যুক্ত রাখে এবং পরিবার ও কমিউনিটির বন্ধন আরও দৃঢ় করে।

 

আরেকটি অনুপ্রেরণাদায়ক দিক ছিল কমিউনিটির নারীরা কীভাবে সবজি চাষের মাধ্যমে নিজেদের পরিবারের পুষ্টি নিশ্চিত করছেন এবং ধীরে ধীরে স্বনির্ভরতার পথে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছেন। শাহানা আপা ও তাঁর দলের ড্রিম শেয়ারিং সেশন আমাদের দেখিয়েছে, স্বপ্ন দেখা এবং সেই স্বপ্ন অন্যের সঙ্গে ভাগ করে নেওয়াই পরিবর্তনের প্রথম ধাপ। তাদের চোখে ছিল সাহস, কণ্ঠে ছিল বিশ্বাস এই স্বপ্নগুলো একদিন বাস্তব হবেই।

 

নলেজ ফেয়ারের পুরো পরিবেশ ছিল প্রাণবন্ত ও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক। নাচ, গল্পের আসর, খেলাধুলা ও মাসকুলিনিটি টিমের আলোচনা এবং কোহর্ট লেভেলে অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ারিং সব মিলিয়ে এটি ছিল একটি জীবন্ত শেখার জায়গা। বিশেষ করে মাসকুলিনিটি বিষয়ক আলোচনাগুলো লিঙ্গ সমতা, দায়িত্বশীল আচরণ এবং কমিউনিটিতে পুরুষদের ইতিবাচক ভূমিকা নিয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বার্তা তুলে ধরেছে।

 

সবচেয়ে ভালো লেগেছে এই কারণে যে, পুরো আয়োজনটি কমিউনিটির মানুষ নিজেরাই সফল করেছেন। পিঠাপুলির আয়োজন থেকে শুরু করে প্রতিটি কার্যক্রমে তাদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ স্পষ্টভাবে চোখে পড়েছে। কোথাও বাহ্যিক চাপ বা নির্দেশনা ছিল না ছিল নিজের উদ্যোগ, নিজের দায়িত্ববোধ।

 

এই নলেজ ফেয়ার থেকে আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় শেখা হলো পরিবর্তন কখনো বাইরে থেকে চাপিয়ে দেওয়া যায় না। মানুষ যখন নিজের গল্প বলে, নিজের অভিজ্ঞতা ও স্বপ্ন ভাগ করে নেয়, তখনই সত্যিকারের পরিবর্তনের বীজ রোপিত হয়। এই শেখাগুলো আমরা আমাদের কমিউনিটিতেও ছড়িয়ে দিতে চাই।
