Hello everyone, My name is Manika Kunwar, and I am currently working as a Community Facilitator at Child Welfare Scheme Nepal. This is my very first job, and like many first experiences, it began with uncertainty, nervousness, and a lot of learning. When I first joined, I was completely unaware of my roles and responsibilities. Everything felt new and overwhelming. Fortunately, GFC played a significant role in guiding me and helping me understand my work. During the initial days, I felt extremely nervous, especially because the nature of the work was entirely unfamiliar to me. My responsibilities included visiting communities for community mapping, household selection, conducting baseline surveys, and interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. Dealing with different types of people and listening to their stories was challenging at first. However, with time and repeated visits, the communities slowly became familiar with us, and I also began to feel more confident and comfortable in my role. Gradually, I started to enjoy my work. I realized how meaningful it was to connect with people, listen to their problems, and understand how they cope with their challenges. These interactions taught me patience, empathy, and the true value of community-based work. I am deeply grateful to Rittu, Shristi and my team mates for their constant encouragement and support throughout this journey. Their motivation helped me grow both personally and professionally. This experience has transformed my initial fear into confidence and passion, and it has shown me how impact community work can truly be.
