Today, I spoke to Venkatesh Patil and Sambhav Rumale, students from Nandwal village. Both of them are currently studying in 7th standard. During the discussion, we discussed his daily life, school. We also talked in detail about his interests and choices. Due to this conversation, he started talking freely.
As the conversation progressed, Venkatesh and Sambhav became more open. Then, what work do the two fathers do and how do they take care of the house? This was discussed. When he was asked what do you think is the advantage of having a son? Then he honestly said that being a son, he can go anywhere, walk, stay out late at night, go to parties with the boys. According to him, men have more freedom in society, while women have many limitations.
Venkatesh and Sambhav said that girls and women in the village are not given such scope. They are asked to come home by seven in the evening. There are restrictions on women, but not on men. But if girls are told so, they are not sent. Also, if every boy in the village decides, a lot of changes can happen in the village.
At the end of the conversation, he said,
This should change now. In every house, both men and women should be given equal importance.
