Breaking any rule is not easy.  When we live by certain rules for ages, we cannot even think of breaking them.  Our weakness, devotion and faith are created towards that rule.  I think this is why there is still prejudice in society.  But in today's time, if you want to survive, you have to break some rules.  The Dalit Harijan community in Bangladesh has some rules of its own.  The Harijan Hela Samaj Panchayats are governed by certain oral rules of their own forefathers.  Men will lead the society.  Without their permission no developmental work of the society can be done.  They control the people of the society in such a way that no one dares to speak or act on them.  But this time something different happened.  And this incident happened in New Bazaar Harijan Colony.  A brave woman.  Within which is invincible power.  Who did not follow the rules of Samaj Panchayat and went forward for the development of women.  Yes friends she is Rekha Harijan.  Board members, staff and facilitators of Arshibad team had a salt conversation with him.

 

Everyone came together and agreed that Rekha Harijan has a good thinking power to do something for others.  When we have the first salt conversation with him then we see his appearance.  He mentioned 20 women jobs to the mayoral candidate during the Mymensingh City Corporation election.  The mayor promises to employ twenty women if he is elected.  This proposal was not taken lightly by the Samaj Panchayat.  Panchayat leaders felt it was their job.  They will do it for the people they love.  So they tempt Rekha Harijan.  He is told you don't worry about others we are arranging your job.  He refused directly.  Later she went to the City Corporation to hire 20 women.  The mayor assured him that everyone will get jobs gradually.  An ordinary woman became unique with her own thoughts and her inner strength.  What I learned from him is to sacrifice small interests for the greater good.  If you have a good attitude for the welfare of the society, courage, an indomitable desire to do something for others, you and I can become unique.

 যেকোনো নিয়ম ভাঙ্গা সহজ হয়না। যখন আমরা যুগ যুগ ধরে কিছু নিয়ম এর মধ‍্যে চলতে থাকি তখন ওটা ভাঙা কথা চিন্তাও করতে পারিনা। সেই নিয়মের প্রতি সৃষ্টি হয় আমাদের দূর্বলতা, ভক্তি আর বিশ্বাস। আমার মনে হয় এই জন‍্যই এখনও সমাজে কুসংস্কার বিরাজমান রয়েছে। তবে বতর্মান সময়ে টিকি থাকতে হলে বাচতে হলে কিছু নিয়মতো ভাঙতে হবে। বাংলাদেশে দলিত হরিজন সম্প্রদায়ের রয়েছে কিছু নিজস্ব নিয়ম। হরিজন হেলা সমাজ পঞ্চায়েত পরিচালিত হয় তাদের নিজস্ব পূর্বপুরুষের মৌখিক কিছু নিয়ম দ্বারা। সমাজে নেতৃত্ব দিবে পুরুষ। তাদের অনুমতি ছাড়া সমাজের কোন উন্নয়নমূলক কাজ করা যাবে না। তারা সমাজের মানুষকে এমনভাবে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করে, কেউ তাদের উপরে কোন কথা বলতে বা কাজ করতে সাহস পায়না। তবে এবার ঘটেছে ভিন্ন ঘটনা। আর এই ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে নতুন বাজার হরিজন কলোনিতে। একজন সাহসী নারী। যার ভিতরে রয়েছে অদম্য শক্তি। যিনি সমাজ পঞ্চায়েত এর নিয়ম না মেনে নারীদের উন্নয়নে এগিয়ে গেছেন। হ‍্যা বন্ধুরা তিনি হলেন রেখা হরিজন। তার সাথে আর্শিবাদ সংস্থা সল্ট কনভারশেশন করেছেন আর্শিবাদ টিমের বোর্ড মেম্বার, স্টাফ ও ফেসিলেটর। সকলেই এক জায়গায় এসে সহমত প্রকাশ করেছে রেখা হরিজন এর ভিতর অন‍্যের জন‍্য কিছু করার ভালো একটা চিন্তা শক্তি আছে। যখন আমরা তার সাথে প্রথম সল্ট কনভারশেশন হয় তারপর আমরা তার বহৃিপ্রকাশ দেখতে পাই। তিনি ময়মনসিংহ সিটি করপোরেশন নির্বাচন এর সময় মেয়র প্রার্থি কাছে ২০জন মহিলা চাকরির কথা তুলে ধরেন। মেয়র প্রতিশ্রুতি দেন যদি সে নির্বাচিত হন তাহলে বিশজন মহিলাকে চাকরি দিবেন। এই প্রস্তাবটি সমাজের পঞ্চায়েত খুব সহজভাবে নেয়নি। পঞ্চায়েত লিডারদের মনে হয়েছে এটা তাদের কাজ। তারা তাদের পছন্দের লোকদের জন‍্য করবে। তাই তারা রেখা হরিজন কে প্রলোভন দেখায়। তাকে বলা হয় তুমি অন‍্যদের জন‍্য চিন্তা করোনা তোমার চাকরির ব‍্যবস্থা আমরা করে দিচ্ছি। তিনি সরাসরি না করে দেন। পরবর্তীতে তিনি সিটি করপোরেশনে যান 20জন মহিলার চাকরির জন‍্য। মেয়র তাকে আশ্বাস দেন পর্যায়ক্রমে সকলের চাকরি হবে। একজন সাধারন নারী তার নিজস্ব চিন্তা ও তার ভিতরের শক্তি দিয়ে সে হয়ে উঠেছে অন‍ন‍্য। আমি তার কাছ এটাই শিখতে পারলাম বৃহত্ত স্বার্থের জন‍্য ক্ষুদ্র স্বার্থ ত‍্যাগ করতে হয়। সমাজের কল‍্যাণে একটা ভালো মনোভাব, সৎসাহস, অন‍্যের জন‍্য কিছু করার অদম্য ইচ্ছা থাকলে আমি আপনি আমরাও অন‍ন‍্য হয়ে উঠতে পারি।
