A SALT-CLCP was conducted at Ethnic Community Development Organization (ECDO) on January 1, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to foster a sense of community, identify team strengths, articulate common goals, and establish self-improvement and organizational development practices.
Overview of the Session:
- Establishing Norms: The session launched by collectively establishing norms to guide community interactions as developing a foundation of mutual respect and collaboration was critical for creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
- Introduction and Storytelling: Encouraged by the positive atmosphere, participants introduced themselves and shared personal stories. This exercise helped team members connect more deeply while fostering a sense of camaraderie.
- Identifying Strengths: Inspired by the positive energy, participants identified the strengths of their teammates. The process revealed notable strengths, such as determination, confidence, and effective decision-making pursuant to time constraints.
- Dream Sharing and common dream: With enthusiasm as a backdrop, participants articulated their dreams for the organization. This exercise revealed common points and ultimate goals, as well as a shared vision of becoming a self-sufficient organization.
- Goal-Setting Practices: In the spirit of positivity, the team collectively established practices to work towards their goals. These included self- evaluation sessions, sticking to action plan deadlines, identifying inefficiencies, and committing to continuous development.
- Self-Assessment: Participants completed a self-assessment, assessing their current performance standards and setting goals for improvement over a span of one year.
- Action Plan creation: Embracing positive energy, the group collaboratively developed an action plan outlining specific steps, such as innovation sessions and biweekly evaluation meetings. Volunteers eagerly stepped forward to take on the responsibility of running these sessions.
- Reflection and Feedback: The session concluded with a reflection and feedback segment in which participants thanked each other for their contributions, reinforcing the positive team spirit. While the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, some participants suggested that future sessions could benefit from more time.
The SALT-CLCP facilitation session at ECDO was highlighted as an effective platform for team-building, goal-setting, and individual development. The identified strengths, shared dreams, and established practices serve as a firm basis for ECDO's journey toward being self-sufficient.
