I am a public health professional. I recently attend first learning event of CLCP in Shimla for HealthRise project Transition grant.
I interviewed Virender Thakur from NGO Mamta HIMC about his work as SALT facilitator in HealthRise project on #NCDs, #Diabetes #Hypertension in Himachal, India supported by Medtronic Philanthropy in the first phase of the project. What he feels good about?
Summary in English
The NGO used Constellation's Community life competence process and SALT for #patient centred approach. Virender shares that their NGO had organised diabetes and blood pressure screening camps Jamog village, Mashobra Block, Shimla district and a large number were detected with high levels of blood sugar or blood pressure. But they were not going for regular check ups. After SALT process, people slowly brought a change within themselves. After compiling a common dream for their village, they made action plans. Patients started going for regular checks. They also started doing yoga daily. they also invited us and we organised a yoga day in the village. A lady patient whose sugar level was 540 mg/dl has brought it down and she continues to take care of her diabetes and continues to keep in contact with me. After SALT process the ASHA/health worker in the village also had become physically active and now walks a lot. Village people are very open to learning new things this is what I have learned. Comment
Good to know the progress and the synergistic effect of SALT and CLCP on NCD. The challenge here is to document the change, and relate the change to SALT and CLCP. Especially the quantitative side.
Accordingly, wish to learn from you all.
