Hello to all CLCP members!
My name is Gemma Todd and I am the co-founder and co-director of Tanzania House of Hope, a local NGO based in Mwanza, Tanzania.
After an inspiring introduction to CLCP by the facilitation team in Uganda early this year, we have remained adamant to understand how we can apply and effectively implement CLCP in our developmental work. As an organisation we are empowering the rights of older people, however, we do so through a intergenerational and inclusive methodology. Previous projects have involved utilising CLCP in setting up older people's associations within the Bwiru community, adopting SALT to establish what kind of problems, and strengths, the groups have, and following through for action. We have established a urban farming project for older people within Bwiru, however, in order to scale up our efforts with and by the community we are establishing a community centre.
Matumaini Community Centre provides a space whereby community members can interact, share ideas, organise activities, and revive the community spirit which is being lost in many places. The centre aims to act as a space for the CLCP to be realised and revived.
This is only a brief introduction to the work we do, and we would appreciate you spending some of your time to check out our Crowdfunding site to read more about our aims, objectives, and the community dreams incorporated.
Please take a look and leave any comments below! Look forward to hearing back from you!
