Marufa Khatun, a class eleven student from Pechakola village, has become a beacon of hope for her entire community. The life struggles and achievements of this responsible, visionary, hardworking young girl stand as a shining example for rural women.
Currently studying in class eleven, Marufa has always been deeply concerned about her family’s financial crisis. Living in a small rural setting, she constantly wondered how she could stand on her own feet while continuing her education.
A few months ago, a new opportunity arrived in her life—learning tailoring. With dedication and hard work, she quickly mastered the craft. Previously, getting a single dress made used to cost her around 200 taka, which was a significant burden for her family. But now, she can sew her own dresses and also make clothes for others, which brings her some income.
For the past year, she has been practicing this work regularly. As a result, not only has the financial pressure on her family eased somewhat, but her self-confidence has also grown tremendously.
Commitment to Social Change
Marufa is not only thinking about her own progress—she also wants other girls in the community to become self-reliant. For this, she placed a proposal before the members of the Tia group:
• She would provide free tailoring training.
• She would help other girls to become self-reliant.
• She would create a network of skills among women in the community.
Her words deeply inspired the members of the Tia group. Many expressed their eagerness to learn and began to dream of new possibilities.

পেঁচাকোলা গ্রামের একাদশ শ্রেণীর ছাত্রী মারুফা খাতুন আজ সমগ্র সম্প্রদায়ের জন্য আশার আলো হয়ে উঠেছেন। এই দায়িত্বশীল, দূরদর্শী ও পরিশ্রমী কিশোরীর জীবনসংগ্রাম এবং সাফল্যের গল্প গ্রামীণ নারীদের জন্য এক উজ্জ্বল দৃষ্টান্ত।
মারুফা খাতুন বর্তমানে একাদশ শ্রেণীতে পড়াশোনা করছেন। ছোট্ট গ্রামীণ জীবনে পরিবারের আর্থিক সংকট সবসময়ই তাকে ভাবিয়ে তুলত। কীভাবে পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি নিজের পায়ে দাঁড়ানো যায়—এই চিন্তাই তাকে তাড়িত করত প্রতিনিয়ত।
কিছুদিন আগে তার জীবনে নতুন সুযোগ আসে—টেইলারিং শেখার। আগ্রহ আর অধ্যবসায়ে তিনি খুব দ্রুত কাজটি আয়ত্ত করে নেন। আগে একটি জামা বানাতে তার প্রায় ২০০ টাকা খরচ হতো, যা পরিবারে বড় চাপের কারণ ছিল। কিন্তু এখন তিনি নিজেই নিজের জামা তৈরি করতে পারেন। শুধু তাই নয়, প্রতিবেশীদেরও জামা বানিয়ে দেন এবং সামান্য হলেও আয় করতে শুরু করেছেন।
গত এক বছর ধরে তিনি নিয়মিত এই কাজ করছেন। এর ফলে পরিবারের আর্থিক চাপ যেমন কিছুটা লাঘব হয়েছে, তেমনি তার নিজের আত্মবিশ্বাসও বহুগুণ বেড়ে গেছে।
সমাজ পরিবর্তনের অঙ্গীকার:
মারুফা কেবল নিজের উন্নতির কথাই ভাবছেন না, তিনি চান তার মতো কমিউনিটির অন্য মেয়েরাও সাবলম্বী হোক। এজন্য মারুফা টিয়া দলের সদস্যদের সামনে প্রস্তাব রাখেন:
• বিনামূল্যে টেইলারিং প্রশিক্ষণ দেবেন
• অন্যান্য মেয়েদের স্বাবলম্বী করে গড়ে তুলবেন
• সম্প্রদায়ের নারীদের নিয়ে গড়ে তুলবেন দক্ষতার নেটওয়ার্ক
তার এই কথায় টিয়া দলের অন্য সদস্যরা গভীরভাবে অনুপ্রাণিত হন। অনেকেই শিখতে আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেন এবং নতুন সম্ভাবনার স্বপ্ন দেখতে শুরু করেন।

মারুফার এ উদ্যোগ শুধুই একটি দক্ষতা অর্জনের গল্প নয়—এটি একটি পরিবর্তনের সূচনা। তিনি দেখিয়ে দিয়েছেন যে, একটি মেয়ের ইচ্ছাশক্তি ও অধ্যবসায় কেবল তার নিজের জীবনকেই বদলায় না, বরং পুরো কমিউনিটির নারীদের জন্য এক নতুন দিগন্ত খুলে দিতে পারে।
মারুফার গল্প থেকে আমরা শিখি:
• সামান্য সুযোগও জীবন বদলে দিতে পারে
• নারীর ক্ষমতায়ন শুরু হয় স্বাবলম্বিতা থেকে

আজ মারুফা খাতুন পেঁচাকোলার তরুণীদের কাছে এক প্রেরণার নাম। যদি তার মতো আরও কিশোরী ও তরুণ-তরুণীরা উদ্যোগী হয়, তবে গ্রামটির প্রতিটি পরিবারই আর্থিকভাবে শক্তিশালী ও আত্মনির্ভর হয়ে উঠবে। সত্যিই, মারুফার হাতে ধরা আছে সম্ভাবনার সূতো—যা একদিন বদলে দিতে পারে পুরো কমিউনিটির ভবিষ্যৎ।
