Who is Mama Kara? It is the community self-assessment (SALT) training organized by the Togolese Red Cross in partnership with UNICEF, which took place in Kara from the 18th until the 21st May 2015. In June a pilot phase will start in Togo: 2 regions, 4 districts, 8 villages.
Different actors, from project coordinators to mammas from the club de mères will use the community self-assessment in the different villages. The villages will evaluate their situation regarding the Essential Family Practices (EFP).
Why are they all now ready to facilitate? Because the formation gave participants the knowledge and courage for a SALT visit! The ambience of the room where the formation took place became warm and comfortable already within the first few hours. Discussions got very interesting and motivation sky-rocketed as the days passed by. Participants worked hard, as well as the facilitators who provided us with a lot of content but enough animation and refreshments to keep people going! The agenda was adapted to the situation and participants even had the opportunity to visit a community in Kara for a mini SALT session. Even the babies who attended the formation with the mamas behaved and knew how to entertain themselves!
We are sure that during these 4 days we all learned a lot at will be able to take all this into action very soon. There goes a bunch of new facilitators!
