From Corporate Walls to Open Hearts: My Journey with BRED

There was a time when my life revolved around a computer screen, daily reports, and the quiet click of keyboards in a corporate office. Everything ran like clockwork — strict schedules, long meetings, tight deadlines. It was professional, disciplined, and efficient. But deep within me, something was missing.

I often questioned myself — is this the kind of work I truly want to do for the rest of my life? I wanted connection, not just communication. I wanted to feel my work, not just finish it.

Then I found BRED, and with it, a path I never imagined.

When I joined BRED as a Documentation Officer, everything changed. I was suddenly surrounded by people who didn’t just talk about performance — they talked about people. In communities, I saw raw, real life. I met people who have faced the worst challenges — river erosion, poverty, discrimination — and still stood tall with strength, dignity, and hope.

I no longer sat behind a desk all day. I walked through fields, sat in courtyards, listened to elders, laughed with children, and exchanged dreams with young people. I wasn’t just gathering data — I was becoming part of their stories.

What moved me most was the SALT approach that BRED uses. Instead of focusing on problems and weaknesses, SALT encourages people to recognize their own strengths, listen deeply, and take collective action. I saw how even the quietest woman in a community could rise with confidence after a single meaningful conversation. I witnessed youth who were once ignored become leaders of change.

Through BRED’s 30-year celebration in Nakalia, Bera, I witnessed what true community development looks like. It’s not just about projects — it’s about love, respect, trust, and shared ownership. People there didn’t see BRED as an outsider organization — they saw it as their own. That touched me deeply.

At BRED, the working culture is unlike anything I’ve seen before. There’s no hierarchy in heart. Everyone — whether senior staff or field facilitator — is approachable, humble, and ready to learn from one another. We appreciate, we celebrate, we grow together. I felt respected not just as a professional, but as a human being.

From a structured corporate life where I was often chasing time, I found myself now walking with time — side by side with people, learning from their resilience, and discovering my own purpose. Every day I hear stories that stay with me — a widow who became a community mobilizer, a youth group who organized road repairs, children taking the lead on river safety.

These stories aren’t just field notes — they are inspirations.

The biggest shift in me is emotional. I’ve become more empathetic, more grounded, more alive. My writing has changed too. It’s no longer just about reports — it’s about voice, dignity, and transformation. I realize that documentation is not just about facts — it’s about feelings. It's about holding space for others’ truths and dreams.

Today, I am proud of who I’m becoming. I’m grateful for the leap I took. I know I’ve moved from a world of walls to a world of hearts. And in this world, I feel seen, heard, and fulfilled.

My Learnings:

My Feelings: What I Carry Within

At BRED, I feel valued, respected, and included. I work in a space where everyone—from senior staff to youth volunteers—is heard and honored.

I feel more human. My writing is no longer just technical—it is emotional, alive, and rooted in the dignity of people.

A Celebration to Remember

Participating in BRED’s 30-year anniversary celebration in Nakalia, Bera was one of the most profound and unforgettable moments of my life.

Throughout the event, I deeply felt that BRED is not just an organization—it has become an integral part of the community, a trusted guardian walking alongside people for decades, standing with them through their joys and struggles.

The villagers do not see BRED as an outsider or a foreign institution; rather, they embrace it as part of their own family, holding deep love and complete trust for the organization.

This special occasion inspired me greatly because I witnessed how an organization can go beyond mere project implementation and truly enter the hearts and lives of people, building genuine relationships.

The sense of responsibility, humanity, and respect that BRED has fostered with the community is, to me, the true key to sustainable development.

It reaffirmed in my heart that my work is not merely a profession; it is a noble responsibility and a precious opportunity for human service through which I can help bring positive change to people’s lives.

This celebration taught me that true transformation happens when we stand with people in the language of the heart, express deep solidarity with them, and work tirelessly to fulfill their dreams and hopes.

For me, BRED’s 30th anniversary was not just a festive event—it was living proof that love, respect, trust, and collective effort can bring about lasting and meaningful change in society.

"কর্পোরেটের কৃত্রিমতা থেকে ব্রেডের আন্তরিকতায়: এক অনন্য অভিযাত্রা"

এক সময় আমার প্রতিদিন কেটেছে কর্পোরেট অফিসের ডেস্কে—কম্পিউটারের সামনে বসে, একের পর এক রিপোর্ট, মিটিং, আর সময়ের তাড়ায় দৌড়ে। প্রতিটি মুহূর্ত ছিল সময়ের সঙ্গে প্রতিযোগিতা—ডেডলাইন, টার্গেট, প্রেজেন্টেশন। জীবন চলছিল শৃঙ্খলাবদ্ধভাবে, কিন্তু কোথাও যেন একটা অদৃশ্য শূন্যতা দিন দিন বড় হতে থাকেছিল।

প্রতিদিন ভাবতাম—এই কি আমার চাওয়া? এই কি আমার স্বপ্নের কাজ? আমি অনুভব করতাম, আমার প্রয়োজন শুধু যোগাযোগ নয়, মানবিক সংযোগ। শুধু কাজ সম্পন্ন নয়, কাজের মাঝে নিজেকে খুঁজে পাওয়া। আমি চেয়েছিলাম এমন একটা পরিবেশ, যেখানে মানুষ, সম্পর্ক আর হৃদয়ের ছোঁয়া থাকবে।

সেই সময়েই আমার জীবনে আসে ব্রেড (BRED)। আর শুরু হয় এক নতুন, বহুমাত্রিক, মানবিক ও অর্থবহ যাত্রা।

মানুষকে জানার, বুঝার, অনুভব করার পথ

ডকুমেন্টেশন অফিসার হিসেবে ব্রেড-এ যোগ দেওয়ার পর আমার পেশাগত জীবনের মানেই বদলে গেল। এখানে কেউ শুধু কাজের অগ্রগতি নয়, মানুষের গল্প, স্বপ্ন আর লড়াই নিয়ে কথা বলে। প্রতিটি কমিউনিটিতে গিয়ে আমি দেখেছি বাস্তব জীবন—যেখানে নদীভাঙনের কষ্ট, দারিদ্র্যের যন্ত্রণা, সামাজিক বৈষম্যের বাস্তবতা আছে, কিন্তু তার মাঝেও আছে অসম্ভব সাহস, আশা আর উদ্যম।

আমি এখন আর ডেস্কে বন্দী নই। আমি হাঁটি গ্রামের পথে, বসি উঠানে, কথা বলি প্রবীণদের সাথে, হাসি শিশুদের সঙ্গে, স্বপ্ন ভাগ করে নিই তরুণদের সাথে। আমি আর শুধু তথ্য সংগ্রাহক নই — আমি একটি চলমান রূপান্তরের সঙ্গী।

SALT: আত্মবিশ্বাসের আলো জ্বালায়

ব্রেড-এর সবচেয়ে বিশেষ দিক হলো এর SALT পদ্ধতি — যা মানুষকে তার সমস্যা দিয়ে নয়, বরং তার শক্তি, সক্ষমতা ও সম্ভাবনা দিয়ে চেনায়। আমি দেখেছি—যে নারী একসময় কোনো কথাই বলতেন না, SALT কথোপকথনের মাধ্যমে তিনিই হয়ে উঠেছেন আত্মবিশ্বাসী কণ্ঠ। আমি দেখেছি তরুণরা কীভাবে নিজেরা পরিকল্পনা করে, নেতৃত্ব দেয়, এবং নিজের কমিউনিটির জন্য কিছু করতে আগ্রহী হয়।

এই পদ্ধতি আমাকে শুধু কৌশল শিখায়নি—আমাকে বদলে দিয়েছে।

আমার শিখন:

• সহানুভূতি মানুষের হৃদয়ের দরজা খুলে দেয়, যুক্তির চেয়ে অনেক বেশি গভীর সংযোগ তৈরি করে।
• একটি গল্প মানুষকে বদলে দিতে পারে, একত্রিত করতে পারে।
• প্রকৃত পরিবর্তনের শুরু হয় মন দিয়ে শোনা থেকে — অন্যের কথা ভালোভাবে বোঝার মাধ্যমে।
• মানুষ সাহায্য নয়, চায় সম্মান, মর্যাদা এবং নিজের জায়গা সমাজে।
• রূপান্তর তখনই সম্ভব যখন মানুষ নিজের ক্ষমতা ও মূল্যবোধকে উপলব্ধি করতে পারে।

আমার অনুভূতি:

ব্রেড-এ কাজ করার মাধ্যমে আমি নিজেকে আরও মানবিক, সহানুভূতিশীল, এবং জীবন্ত বোধ করি।

এখানে আমার কণ্ঠস্বর শোনা যায়, আমার মতামতকে সম্মান দেওয়া হয়, এবং আমি এক টিমের অংশ হিসেবে নিজেকে মূল্যায়িত অনুভব করি। সিনিয়র থেকে জুনিয়র, মাঠ কর্মী থেকে অফিসার—সবার মধ্যে একাত্মবোধ ও সম্মান রয়েছে।

আমার লেখালেখি এখন আর শুধুমাত্র তথ্যের অনুবাদ নয়; এটি মানুষের কাহিনী, সংগ্রাম ও পরিবর্তনের দলিল। আমি প্রতিটি রিপোর্টকে একধরনের মানবিক দলিল হিসেবে দেখি।

স্মরণীয় উদযাপন: ৩০ বছর পূর্তি

নাকালিয়া, বেড়া-তে ব্রেড-এর ৩০ বছর পূর্তি উদযাপনে অংশগ্রহণ করা আমার জীবনের অন্যতম স্মরণীয় ও গভীর অনুভূতির মুহূর্ত ছিল।

অনুষ্ঠানের প্রতিটি মুহূর্তে আমি অনুভব করেছি, ব্রেড শুধুমাত্র একটি সংস্থা নয়, বরং একটি জীবন্ত কমিউনিটির অঙ্গ ও অন্তর্ভুক্ত অভিভাবক, যিনি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে মানুষের সঙ্গে হাঁটছে, তাদের সুখ-দুঃখে সঙ্গী হয়ে তাদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে।

গ্রামের মানুষের চোখে ব্রেড আর কোনো দূরবর্তী সংগঠন নয়; এটি তাদের নিজেদের পরিবারের মতো, যার প্রতি তারা পূর্ণ বিশ্বাস ও ভালোবাসা পোষণ করে।

এই উপলক্ষ আমাকে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে, কারণ আমি দেখেছি কীভাবে এক সংস্থা কেবল প্রকল্প সম্পাদনের বাইরে গিয়ে মানুষের জীবনের গভীরে প্রবেশ করতে পারে। তাদের প্রতি দায়িত্ববোধ, মানবতা ও সম্মানের যে বন্ধন গড়ে ওঠে, সেটাই প্রকৃত অর্থে টেকসই উন্নয়নের মন্ত্র।

আমার মনে আরও একবার স্পষ্ট হয়েছে যে, আমার কাজ শুধুমাত্র পেশা নয়—এটি এক মহৎ দায়িত্ব, এক মানবিক সেবা, যা মানুষের জীবনে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আনার এক বিশেষ সুযোগ।

এই অনুষ্ঠান আমাকে শিক্ষা দিয়েছে, যে প্রকৃত পরিবর্তন আসে তখনই, যখন আমরা হৃদয়ের ভাষায় মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়াই, তাদের সঙ্গে একাত্মতা প্রকাশ করি এবং তাদের স্বপ্ন ও আশা বাস্তবায়নের পথে হাত বাড়িয়ে দিই।

ব্রেড-এর ৩০ বছর পূর্তি উদযাপন আমার জন্য ছিল শুধুমাত্র একটি উদযাপন নয়, বরং এক জীবন্ত প্রমাণ, যে ভালোবাসা, সম্মান ও সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টার মাধ্যমে সমাজে স্থায়ী পরিবর্তন সম্ভব।

Thanks to You Rituu. Because of SALT approach, i learnt a lots of thing and continuously learning. Now, i can take decision wisely and feel my decisions are rights. I can appreciate little things that i ignored previously. I can mix with people more easily that i cannot do before. True changes have come to my life. I'm enjoying my work.

Thanks Rituu for asking. I feel more human in BRED because, for the first time in my professional life, I’m surrounded by genuine warmth, connection, and care. In the corporate world, everything is fast-paced, structured, and strictly professional. People are constantly running behind deadlines, targets, and time-bound routines. There’s little space for emotional bonding or human connection.

But here at BRED, everything feels different. I am engaging with rural communities where people are loving, caring, and incredibly accepting. They don’t see me through my job title or professional role. They accept me as one of their own - as a sister, a daughter, a friend. In BRED, I’m not chasing time. I’m creating meaningful moments. That’s why I feel more alive, more grounded, and truly more human here.
