I had a SALT conversation with my colleague in DHARA, Khulna, Bangladesh, Pranta Biswas. He was the youngest and most beloved son of his parents. Being the youngest in the family, everyone raised him on their laps. Everyone fulfilled his every wish/need when he was young.

The beloved son of a freedom fighter father, who was raised in a royal manner, lost his father after his SSC exams. His father passed away while undergoing treatment in Dhaka. Before he could overcome the grief of losing his father, his mother fell seriously ill. He tried to get the best medical treatment in the country for his mother. But the doctors in the country failed to cure her. Later, he was taken to the developed world for treatment. But that too was of no use. No doctor in the world could save him. Prantar's mother went to heaven. But Pratnat Biswas could not bear the grief any longer. Pratnat was stunned. While sharing his life story with me, he suddenly became emotional. The proud prince of the Freedom Fighters family, whose father and two uncles were freedom fighters, has since become silent. A robotic man. He works online all day and night. Pratnat has become a resident of the online world. Seeing this situation, the executive director of Dhara brought him in and gave him the responsibility of documenting. বাবা মায়ের সর্ব কনিষ্ঠ অতি আদরের রাজপুত্র ছিলো প্রান্ত বিশ্বাস। পরিবারের সবচেয়ে ছোট হওয়ার কারণে সবাই তাকে কোলে পিঠে করে বড়ো করে। তার ছোট বেলার সে যার কাছে যা দাবি করতো, তার যাবতীয় সখ/চাহিদা পূরন করতো সবাই।

রাজকীয় ভাবে বেড়ে ওঠা প্রান্ত, ফ্রীডম ফাইটার বাবার সেই অতি আদরের ছেলেটাকে SSC পরীক্ষার পরেই হারাতে হলো তার বাবাকে। ঢাকাতে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তার বাবা পরলোক গমন করেন। বাবা হারানোর শোক কাটিয়ে উঠার আগেই তার মা গুরুতর অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। তার মাকে নিয়ে সে দেশের সর্বচ্চো চিকিৎসার চেষ্টা করেন। কিন্তু দেশের চিকিৎসকরা উনাকে সুস্থ করতে ব্যার্থ হন। পরে উনাকে চিকিৎসার জন্য উন্নত বিশ্বে নিয়ে যান। কিন্তু তাতেও কোন লাভ হয় না। বিশ্বের কোনো চিকিৎসক তাকে বাঁচাতে পারেন নি। প্রান্তর মা স্বর্গ বাসী হয়ে গেলেন। কিন্তু প্রান্ত বিশ্বাস সেই শোক আর সহ্য করতে পারেন নি। স্তব্ধ হয়ে গেল প্রান্ত। আমার সাথে তার জীবনের গল্প শেয়ার করার সময় তিনি হঠাৎ সেন্সলেচ হয়ে যান। বাবা এবং দুই চাচা ফ্রীডম ফাইটার্স পরিবারের গর্বিত সেই রাজপুত্র ছেলেটা তখন থেকেই হয়ে গেছে নিরব। একজন রোবোটিক মানুষ। সারাদিন রাত অনলাইনে কাজ করতে থাকেন। প্রান্ত হয়ে গেলেন অনলাইনের একজন বাসিন্দা। এমতাবস্থা দেখে ধারার নির্বাহী পরিচালক তাকে নিয়ে এসে ডকুমেন্টার কাজের দায়িত্ব দেন। এখন তিনি সংস্থার সবার সাথে মিলেমিশে থেকে, তার সেই একাকিত্ব বোধ কিছুটা দুর হয়েছে।
