Le  Curé de la Paroisse de  RUTANA recevait habituellement des gens se plaignant de différents problèmes. Certains manquent d’habits, d’autres d’habitation, d’autres d’appui nutritionnel, d’autres de terre culturale, d’autres des problèmes liés au VIH/SIDA. Un jour, il se décida de rassembler les personnes vivant avec le VIH/SIDA mais se heurta au fait que toutes ne répondaient pas à l’invitation. Il constata par après que ces dernières avaient peur d’être stigmatisées et discriminées par la communauté  car de telle pratique existe encore dans la contrée.

Le Curé décida de changer de stratégie. Il identifia les personnes les plus démunies y compris les PVVIH et tint des réunions avec. Aujourd’hui le groupe est appelé « Groupement de personnes infectées et affectées par le VIH/SIDA ». Il leur a accordé une salle dans laquelle elles peuvent tenir des réunions régulièrement. Il les a aidé à élaborer un projet qui attend un financement de la part des bailleurs qui appuient les personnes affectées et ou infectées par le VIH/SIDA.
